Toro Rosso chief Franz Tost thinks that his Russian charger Daniil Kvyat is back ‘in the zone’ after collecting a couple of points last time out around Marina bay.
“Just to come back and get the self-confidence back was important, and I think this is a good step forward.” Tost added: “Daniil did a fantastic race. He recovered very well and he fought quite well against [Fernando] Alonso and against Max. He defended really well and in the end unfortunately he could not manage to pass Perez because he was too slow on the straight.
“I am very happy for him because he showed a good race and scored good points. I expected more than two points from the race, but this is how it is.”
The expectation of more points from the race came from a strong showing during Q3, where Sainz and Kvyat lined up 6th and 7th on the grid respectively. Tost was also quick to acknowledge that his team will face an uphill battle from now on to score points for the remainder of the season.
The 2015 Ferrari power unit hasn’t received any upgrades all year, the B spec car that arrived for Hockenheim has not done much in the way of performance.

Tost would do well to remember who it was that sapped his self confidence in the first place.
