Championship leader Nico Rosberg has signed a new contract with AMG Petronas Mercedes Benz formula one team for another two years.
After contract negotiations lasting almost 6 months, Nico and the team have finally reached agreement. Nico’s deal will see him drive with the Brackley squad to the end of the 2018 season, this also lines up with Lewis’s contract.
For 2017, the top three teams of red bull Ferrari and Mercedes have locked all their seats in place. Gerhard Berger had been helping Nico with the contract talks, as Nico didn’t want the negotiations to distract him from the championship battle.
The news will almost certainly give Nico a boost heading into this weekend, as he will be looking to celebrate the deal with a win on track to halt teammate Hamilton’s recent charge.
What this also means, Mercedes will have a another potentially turbulent couple of years ahead of them. Begs the question as to whether some clauses would have been inserted into the contract, to prevent further comings together with Lewis.
