Hadjar confirms Red Bull stay for 2027 – Isack Hadjar will remain alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull for the 2027 Formula 1 season, but the Frenchman has admitted he has not even checked how long his new contract with the team runs.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Hadjar was asked about the length of his new agreement after Red Bull officially confirmed his retention on Wednesday.
“To be honest, I don’t know. I don’t care,” the 21-year-old said.
Unlike Verstappen, whose Red Bull contract was recently extended through 2030, Red Bull did not disclose the duration of Hadjar’s new deal.
Hadjar leaves contract details to his representatives
Hadjar made clear that the contractual details are being handled by his representatives rather than himself.
“I didn’t even discuss it. I let my people handle it. I take care of the track, that’s what matters. It was very simple.”
The decision means Hadjar will continue his rapid progression with Red Bull after being promoted to the senior team for the 2026 season.
The Frenchman impressed during his rookie campaign with Racing Bulls in 2025, securing his first Formula 1 podium, before earning the opportunity to race alongside Verstappen.
Injury kept Hadjar out of three races
Hadjar’s first season with Red Bull has also been interrupted by injury.
A wrist injury sustained in a pit-lane incident forced him to miss the Grands Prix in the Netherlands, Italy and Spain. He is now preparing to return to competition at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
His absence gave reserve driver Liam Lawson another opportunity to race for Racing Bulls.
Hadjar’s best result of the 2026 season so far came in Monaco, where he finished third following Pierre Gasly’s time penalty.
Red Bull imposes no restrictions after boxing accident
Hadjar’s injury followed a boxing accident, but the Red Bull driver said the team has not imposed restrictions on his activities following the incident.
“Next time I will be more careful. There are no restrictions. I am not a five-year-old.”
His return in Baku will therefore provide the first opportunity to assess whether the wrist problem has fully recovered after his extended absence.
For now, Hadjar’s focus appears to be firmly on his performance on track rather than the precise details of the contract that will keep him at Red Bull next season.
