Helmut Marko photographed with Max Verstappen’s representatives as future questions remain – Fresh speculation over Max Verstappen’s Formula 1 future has emerged after former Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko was seen meeting members of the Dutch driver’s inner circle.
The gathering, which included Verstappen’s father Jos Verstappen and long-time manager Raymond Vermeulen, comes as uncertainty continues over whether the Red Bull driver will remain with the team beyond the current season.
The meeting was highlighted by De Telegraaf journalist Erik van Haren, who shared a photograph on social media showing the three together in Amsterdam. While there has been no official confirmation of what was discussed, the timing has inevitably fuelled further debate over Verstappen’s next move.
Amsterdam meeting adds to ongoing speculation
Although Marko stepped away from his formal Red Bull duties at the beginning of 2026, he continues to maintain a close personal relationship with Verstappen and those around him.
According to van Haren, there remains no clarity regarding Verstappen’s long-term plans despite weeks of intense speculation. Neither Verstappen’s camp nor Red Bull has commented publicly on the Amsterdam meeting.
The conversation could have covered a wide range of topics, but with Verstappen’s future dominating Formula 1 headlines, it has naturally prompted further questions over whether his next career move was discussed.
Marko remains one of Verstappen’s closest allies
Although no longer involved in Red Bull’s day-to-day operations, the Austrian has continued to enjoy a close relationship with the Verstappen family and Vermeulen, making meetings between the group far from unusual.
However, with Red Bull facing continued uncertainty over its driver line-up, every public appearance involving Verstappen’s closest advisors is attracting increased scrutiny.
TJ13 previously revealed that sources close to the Red Bull operation believe preparations are quietly being made for a potential announcement regarding Verstappen’s future. While neither Red Bull nor Verstappen has publicly commented on the latest speculation, a source told TJ13 that members of the factory team are increasingly expecting clarity once contractual matters are resolved.
Verstappen continues to avoid committing his future
Verstappen has consistently refused to confirm where he will race beyond his current situation, insisting on several occasions that there is “nothing new” to announce.
That stance has done little to slow speculation linking him with rival teams, while reports have also suggested the Dutchman has considered taking time away from Formula 1 altogether.
No evidence has emerged that any decision has been made, and there has been no official confirmation from Verstappen, Red Bull or his management regarding future plans.
The Amsterdam meeting seems to be another development in one of Formula 1’s biggest ongoing stories. Until Verstappen publicly confirms his intentions, speculation surrounding his future is likely to remain one of the sport’s dominant talking points.
