Former Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has been arrested in Brazil, reported by the Reuters news agency, which claims Ecclestone had a firearm in his hand luggage whilst trying to board a private jet bound for Switzerland.
Ecclestone wanted to board a private plane to Switzerland in Campinas, but a Seecamp pistol model .32 was found when his luggage when scanned at security. Ecclestone had admitted that the gun belonged to him, but he had not been aware that it was in his luggage.
As a result, the British former F1 ringmaster was taken into temporary custody before he paid bail and was allowed to continue his journey.
The 91-year-old is married to Brazilian-born Fabiana Ecclestone, the FIA vice-president and a member of the World Motor Sport Council.
