Norris strong message on McLaren

Despite a difficult start to the season for the McLaren F1 team, Lando Norris finished seventh at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The British driver was very satisfied with this result, but he was also clear about the progress that still needs to be made in order to fight for the top places.

Like some teams such as Mercedes, McLaren is struggling to find its place in the Formula One championship at the start of the 2022 season. After a bad race in Bahrain to open the Formula 1 year (Ricciardo 14th, Norris 15th), the British team had to rectify the situation at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. And despite Daniel Ricciardo’s retirement in Jeddah, Lando Norris finished a surprising seventh.

The 22-year-old driver was very satisfied with his result, even if he remained realistic about the progress his team still needs to make in order to be in the fight for the top spots.

“We have a lot of progress to make if we want to get closer to the top teams”

“My seventh place? I think that’s huge for us. Just for the motivation of everyone.” exclaims Norris,

“We still have a lot to look forward to, but it’s not like we’ve had two terrible weekends and nobody wants to smile. We can smile a little bit even though we understand we have a lot of work to do. We have a lot of progress to make if we want to get closer to the top teams, a lot of work,” said Lando Norris in an interview with Motorsport.com.

  1. How good to hear Lando being positive rather than winging as a fair ammount of F1 drivers do
