Binotto: No regrets sacking Vettel, Leclerc can challenge Hamilton

Ferrari’s past, present and future Formula 1 drivers lined up and analysed by Maranello’s team principal, Mattia Binotto, who talks about Sebastian Vettel, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.

“We have young, talented drivers: they can fight as teammates and Charles can challenge Lewis with the right car”. claims Binotto in the Italian press yesterday.

“Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will be free to fight as teammates at Ferrari at the beginning of 2021” says the Ferrari team boss, who then reveals that as far as he’s concerned the correct decisions were made about their driver line up and that they don’t regret sacking Vettel.

“there will be no regrets about him” says Binotto,

“because when we made decisions about drivers, we made them thinking they were right and today we have a fantastic one like Charles in whom we have invested a lot as Ferrari.”

“Sebastian is a fantastic person and a great driver with whom we have had good times together,

“but I think it was time to make a different decision and move on,” said Binotto.

“We will have a very young line-up, but Charles and Carlos Sainz are very strong and talented and even though they are young they have good experience in F1, so I’m very happy with the choice.”
