Otmar Szafnauer was quick to make a mockery of Romain Grosjean as he presented the new Racing Point F1 car.
While the Formula 1 drivers will make their return to the racetrack in a few weeks time in Australia, the different teams will take turns presenting their cars. This Monday, it was Racing Point’s turn to present its new RP20.
During this event, Otmar Szafnauer displayed his ambitions for the 2020 season and took advantage of the occasion to slip a tackle on Romain Grosjean, who regularly makes clumsy gestures.
“We want to get closer to our rivals and put our two cars in the points at each race, as we have done in the past.
“Afterwards, you never know what can happen in the first lap of the race; you never know. if Romain Grosjean is always racing, he can hit you” says the Racing Point boss.
“But at least if you have the potential to be in the points at every race, you’ll have the chance to achieve your goals.
“Last year was difficult, we were behind the middle of the pack, but we want to get back to where we can be.
“This year we want to be a strong force and closer to the top three, leading the middle of the pack,” said Otmar Szafnauer
The Silverstone-based outfit ended up seventh overall last year, after predecessors Force India finished fourth in 2016 and 2017.
“We’ve got to get both drivers in the points at every race,” said Szafnauer.
“This year we want to be a strong fourth, we want to be closer to the top three than we’ve ever been in the past and we want to be the top of the midfield.”
