Verstappen set to become first female F1 world champion

Max Verstappen never slows down – on the track or in life. The three-time Formula One World Champion has amassed victories, trophies and high-speed machines at an astonishing rate. A dachshund, a new boat, a fresh private jet – each addition has kept pace with his relentless winning mentality. Now he’s about to welcome his most significant addition yet: his first child.

And according to the latest rumours from the paddock and beyond, that child will be a daughter. Together with his partner Kelly Piquet, Verstappen looks set to contribute not just to the next generation of motorsport talent, but to something truly historic. If the latest signs are anything to go by, we could finally be looking at the long-awaited first female F1 world champion.

Pink signals and a future racing prodigy

Rumours of Kelly Piquet’s pregnancy have been circulating for some time, but the recent baby shower seemed to all but confirm that the couple are expecting a girl. While modern times have taught us not to jump to conclusions based on colour schemes, the abundance of pink at the party strongly suggested that Verstappen and Piquet were preparing to welcome a daughter.

If true, the motorsport world will be looking decades ahead. After all, this child won’t be inheriting the genes of just any old parents. She will be born into a racing dynasty.

The ultimate racing pedigree

Talent isn’t everything in motorsport – but it certainly helps. And when it comes to genetics, few could hope for a more impressive pedigree than that of Verstappen and Piquet’s daughter.

– Max Verstappen: Four-time (and counting) Formula 1 World Champion, renowned for his aggressive yet precise driving style. With a natural feel for the car and an unparalleled ability to squeeze speed out of any machine, he’s already regarded as one of the greatest drivers in history.

– Kelly Piquet: A motorsport insider with extensive experience in the industry, raised in a household where racing was a way of life.

– Nelson Piquet: Father of Kelly. Three-time Formula 1 World Champion and one of Brazil’s great racing legends. Known for his strategic approach and technical understanding, his influence on the sport is undeniable.

– Jos Verstappen: Father of Max. A former Formula 1 driver, he is widely regarded as one of the toughest racers of his era. He played a crucial role in shaping Max’s career, instilling the determination and work ethic that helped his son rise to the top.

– Sophie Kumpen: Mother of Max. One of the greatest karting talents of her generation, whose racing ability and competitive nature are credited with shaping Max’s exceptional driving skills.

With a pedigree like that, it seems almost inevitable that Verstappen’s child – daughter or not – will at least give motorsport a serious look.

Breaking barriers: A female F1 world champion?

Despite the long history of women in motorsport, no female driver has ever won the Formula 1 World Championship. The reasons for this are complex, but the general consensus has often been that barriers – both social and financial – have prevented female drivers from getting the opportunities they need to succeed at the highest level.

That may not be an issue for Verstappen and Piquet’s daughter. Access to top-of-the-range karting equipment? Check. The best coaching money can buy? Check. A father who understands the grind of F1 better than anyone? Check.

And above all, there will be no doubts in her own family about whether she should continue racing. At a time when more and more young female talent is making a name for itself in the junior categories, the Verstappen-Piquet child could very well be at the forefront of a long overdue change in the sport.

Dutch, Brazilian… or both?

Nationality is always an interesting discussion in motorsport, and in this case it is even more intriguing. With both Max and Kelly having Dutch and Brazilian roots, their child will have several options when it comes to racing under a national flag.

While racing under a Dutch licence would certainly make her one of us for the Orange Army, there’s also a strong case to be made for representing Brazil. Given the country’s rich motorsport heritage – Ayrton Senna, Nelson Piquet, Emerson Fittipaldi, Felipe Massa – the appeal of continuing that legacy could be considerable.

And let’s not forget that the Brazilian sponsorship potential is huge. Could that be the deciding factor? Perhaps, but there’s plenty of time before any of these questions need to be answered.

Is it 2050 yet?

It’s all speculation for now, but it’s hard not to get carried away with the thought. The idea of Verstappen’s daughter following in his footsteps – and possibly even going further – adds another layer of excitement to the ever-evolving world of Formula One.

With the right guidance, the right opportunities and a natural love of speed, she could well be the one to finally break through the last great barrier in F1. And if that happens, we can just imagine the headlines:

“Verstappen produces first female F1 world champion”.

The year 2050 can’t come soon enough.

MORE F1 NEWS – Williams boss addresses the issue of new FIA month long bans for drivers’ swearing

Franco Colapinto took Formula One by storm as Williams gave him his big break replacing Logan Sargeant with nine Grand Prix remaining last season. The Floridian was in his second year with the Grove based team and failed to earn a single point bar the one he inherited at the 2023 US Grand Prix.

Whilst Logan was the first US born driver to claim an F1 point in 30 years, he crossed the line at COTA in twelfth position. However, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were disqualified post race for a technical infringement which meant their cars had too much wear on the plank which sits underneath the car.

The width of the skid block, as its officially called, is used as a gauge by which the minimum ride height of the car is measured. Mercedes and Ferrari had set up these two cars too low in an effort to increase the downforce created by the new ground effect car designs…READ MORE ON THIS STORY
