Honda reveals it’s new ‘more powerful’ engine for French GP

Red Bull and Alpha Tauri will have a new and improved Honda engine at its disposal this weekend and the Japanese manufacturer has chosen a new name and logo for the power units.

Honda has hired Japan’s top logo designer to create a new design for its engines. The new name will be Honda e:TECHNOLOGY, according to the Japanese engine maker via Twitter.

According to Honda, eTECHNOLOGY is the new name for “our high-efficiency electrification technology concept, which aims to take the lead in a carbon-neutral society”.

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are likely to be more interested in speed and reliability as key objectives for winning the championship with Red Bull and Honda.

Honda is leaving Formula 1 at the end of this year and Red Bull Racing will build the powertrains as the intellectual property has been taken over.

Next weekend we will see if the improved engine under the new logo will make Red Bull faster as well. Scuderia AlphaTauri will also receive the new logo on their car and the engine of Pierre Gasly’s car. Yuki Tsunoda will have to wait a while before he can drive with the new specification.

Helmut Marko told RTL that the team had “no problems” with the previous engine specification supplied by Honda. However, the new engine should provide more power and reliability would have increased.
