As he makes his return to Formula 1, Fernando Alonso recently revealed who he thinks is the best F1 driver in the world today.
Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso is back on track in Formula 1 this season. The 39-year-old Spaniard drives for the Alpine team. After a difficult start, Fernando Alonso is gradually gaining in momentum. This is evidenced by his presence in Q3, during the qualifying session of the Spanish Grand Prix. The Spanish driver also used the opportunity during the weekend to reveal his best driver of the moment.
Fernando Alonso revealed that he admires one driver in particular:
“In Formula 1, it is so difficult to estimate the level of one driver compared to another. One is faster on a lap, one is better at the start, one is super consistent or very aggressive.
“It’s clear that Mercedes F1 is a bit better than Red Bull still. But for me personally, Max Verstappen is the best driver at the moment.
“As a driver, I really enjoy watching him on track. He’s always in attack mode, and when he’s third and making up ground, you know he won’t stay third for long. You know he’ll try at some point.
“Of course, a style like that sometimes leads to mistakes, but it’s just a good thing for the fans to watch. ”
