Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc expects to have a serious competitor at his side in 2021 with the arrival in the team of Spaniard Carlos Sainz.
It has now been official for a few days. Spaniard Carlos Sainz will replace Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari next year and will therefore become Charles Leclerc’s new teammate.
The young Monegasque, who will be starting his third season with Ferrari in 2021, insists that he will not become the team’s number one driver and expects “a nice challenge” against a “very fast” Carlos Sainz.
“I’m not becoming number one. I think Carlos is a great driver and he will prove it, even if it is not yet obvious to everyone.
“I think Carlos is a great driver and he’s going to prove it, even if it’s not yet obvious to everyone,” Charles Leclerc explains to our team mates.
“He will be a great challenge for me. He will be hard to beat. Is he going to annoy me like I annoyed Vettel? Clearly, he’s going to annoy me. I think Carlos will be very fast. ”
From the 2021 season, Scuderia Ferrari will field its youngest driver duo in 50 years with an average age of 23.
