Williams driver George Russell hopes one day to make Lewis Hamilton regret the advice he gave him at the start of his career.
George Russell revealed that six-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton gave him “invaluable” driving advice earlier in his career.
But now that the young Briton is in F1, he hopes to be able to use this valuable advice in the Formula 1 championship one day to beat Lewis Hamilton on the track.
“It made me think about how to get more out of the car. I hope I can make him regret giving me that advice one day. ” jokes the Williams driver.
“It was during a debriefing, I was struggling a bit with something and I was talking to the engineers about it. He gave me some advice on the driving side, mainly on tyres and how to get the most out of them.
“I’m not going to say what it was, but it’s a little something that helped me find a little bit more, something that I missed at the beginning of my career in F2, and that was transferred to F1 and that information triggered something in me. ”
George Russell will begin his second season in F1 as a regular with Williams this year.
In his first year in 2019, the Brit impressed by dominating team-mate Robert Kubica. Starting in the 2020 season, Russell will team up with Canadian Nicholas Latitfi.
