The #F1 Bar Exam: 19 September 2013

Welcome to another week of TheJduge13 #F1 Bar Exam. Hope you enjoyed last week’s quiz.

Last Week’s Question(s): Can you name the circuit in the image. This circuit is one where departing Ferrari driver, Felipe Massa, have been very competitive in the past. It is also a circuit where horns have been locked in the recent past. Bonus point if you can name the exact point of the track where this photo was taken.

The answer(s) I was looking for were: The circuit is Istanbul Park and the photo is of Alonso going through turn 8.  Turn 8 boasts top speeds of 270kph (170mph), four distinct apexes and many bumps, and is one of the longest on the calendar, meaning drivers pull up to 5Gs for more than seven seconds through the awesome left-hander.

Think of Istanbul and the image of Vettel and Webber locking horns springs to mind.

Well done to Matt, Mike, Sid, Verstappen and Wire2004.

This week’s question(s): Can you name the circuit in the image. Can you also name the first ever Formula 1 winner (in a Formula 1 race) and the last winner in a Formula 1 race. This would be the home track of a very successful Formula 1 racing driver.
