The exact value of Norris’ new salary has not been disclosed. However, the British driver is understood to have received a substantial pay increase as part of the contract extension.
Norris commits long-term to McLaren
Norris said McLaren remains central to his Formula 1 career after achieving his ambition of winning a world championship with the team in 2025.
“McLaren is my home,” said Norris, who came through the Formula 1 team’s junior program. “When I started this journey nine years ago, I knew what I wanted to achieve: to bring McLaren back to the top and win championships. We’ve achieved that goal, but we want more. We want to keep winning, and we know as a team that we’re capable of it.”
The new agreement means Norris is now committed to McLaren for at least the first part of the next major phase of Formula 1, with the sport continuing to evolve under its latest technical regulations.
He said he was “very excited about what the future holds for us – both for the remainder of this season and for the years to come.”
Norris secured his first Drivers’ World Championship with McLaren in 2025, adding the title to the team’s return to the top of Formula 1’s competitive order.

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella highlighted Norris’ contribution to the team’s transformation over the past nine years.

Stella added that Norris’ continued presence would provide stability as McLaren seeks to remain among Formula 1’s leading teams.
“Lando has grown with McLaren and played a pivotal role in bringing the team back to the top of Formula 1. This contract extension provides important continuity and strengthens our confidence in the path we are taking together.”
The extension also removes one of the biggest potential questions surrounding McLaren’s future driver line-up. With Norris now tied down beyond the next few seasons, the team can continue developing its technical and sporting structure around its world champion.
Zak Brown welcomes Norris contract extension
McLaren CEO Zak Brown also welcomed the agreement, pointing to Norris’ development from junior driver to world champion as evidence of the team’s long-term investment in its own talent.
Brown said he was “incredibly pleased” with Norris’ contract extension.
“His development within the team is a fantastic example of our commitment to discovering, nurturing and supporting world-class talent, and his achievements speak for themselves.”
Norris’ new deal is significant not only because it keeps the reigning 2025 Drivers’ World Champion at McLaren, but because it signals the team’s intention to continue competing for championships with a driver who has been central to its recent resurgence.
