Kim Kardashian sends surprise gift to Kimi Antonelli after Monaco paddock controversy

What began as one of the more unusual talking points of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend has now ended with a light-hearted gesture from Kim Kardashian that left Formula 1 championship leader Kimi Antonelli laughing in the Barcelona paddock.

The reality television star found herself at the centre of unexpected controversy in Monaco after being spotted taking a small Mercedes towel that had reportedly been intended for Antonelli.

While the incident quickly went viral on social media and drew criticism from some Formula 1 fans, Antonelli himself appeared largely unfazed by the situation.

Now, less than a week later, Kardashian seems to have responded in her own way.

Monaco moment sparked online debate

Kardashian made headlines throughout the Monaco weekend while supporting Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton, with television cameras regularly focusing on her presence around the paddock and hospitality areas.

The attention intensified after footage emerged appearing to show Kardashian taking a towel from beneath the podium following the race.

Social media users quickly identified it as an item believed to have been prepared for Antonelli, creating an unexpected wave of online debate.

While some fans criticised the incident, there was little indication that Antonelli himself viewed it as a serious issue.

A surprise waiting in Barcelona

Following second practice at the Spanish Grand Prix, Mercedes personnel were waiting for the Italian teenager as he climbed from his car.

Instead of the usual post-session debrief, Antonelli was presented with a neatly wrapped white towel decorated with a large pink bow.

The gift immediately caught his attention.

As cameras rolled, Antonelli accepted the package before noticing a message embroidered onto the towel: “For Kimi from Kim.”

The Mercedes driver reportedly asked whether the gift had genuinely come from Kardashian, with team staff confirming it had.

Antonelli’s reaction says it all

Rather than treating the situation as an awkward follow-up to the Monaco controversy, Antonelli appeared to find the entire episode hilarious.

Video circulating from the paddock showed the 19-year-old laughing as he draped the towel around his neck before heading off on his scooter.

The image quickly became one of the lighter moments of the Barcelona weekend, with many fans viewing it as an amusing conclusion to a story that had generated far more attention than anyone expected.

In a paddock often dominated by technical upgrades, political intrigue and championship battles, the sight of Formula 1’s title leader proudly carrying a personalised towel from one of the world’s most famous celebrities provided a very different talking point.

Will Kardashian return this weekend?

It remains unclear whether Kardashian will make another appearance at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Her Monaco visit marked her highest-profile Formula 1 appearance to date, arriving alongside Hamilton as the seven-time world champion continued Ferrari’s recent resurgence.

Whether she returns or not, the towel saga has already delivered one of the season’s most unexpected celebrity stories.

And if there was any lingering tension between Kardashian and Antonelli after Monaco, the Mercedes star’s reaction in Barcelona suggested there certainly isn’t anymore.
