Rosberg: Hamilton gives away Barbies!

Rosberg: Hamilton sends huge gift package to daughters – The fierce rivalry between Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton once defined an era in Formula One, particularly during their tense years as Mercedes teammates. Their on-track battles were intense and their off-track relationship was far from friendly. However, time has softened the edges of their former enmity – at least in Rosberg’s household.

The German, who retired from F1 immediately after winning the 2016 World Championship, recently revealed that Hamilton now plays a surprising role in his family life.

It turns out that Rosberg’s daughters, Alaïa and Naila, are big fans of Lewis Hamilton, despite the long-standing tensions between their father and the British driver. The former F1 champion revealed the amusing twist on the NDR Talk Show, where he explained how Hamilton showered his daughters with massive bundles of presents every year.

A rivalry turned into an unlikely bond

The relationship between Rosberg and Hamilton has never been easy. They were childhood friends who became bitter rivals at Mercedes, engaging in one of the most bitter teammate duels in F1 history. Their years together were filled with controversy, clashes and personal conflicts, culminating in Rosberg’s dramatic retirement just days after winning his only world title in 2016.

But despite their past enmities, Hamilton has taken on an unexpected role in Rosberg’s family dynamic – at least in the eyes of his two young daughters. When asked about their admiration for Hamilton, Rosberg couldn’t help but laugh.

“It’s true,” he admitted. “It’s more than a weakness – it’s a big problem.”

What makes it even more surreal for Rosberg is that, despite their historic rivalry, Hamilton now sends his daughters gigantic packages of presents every Christmas.

Hamilton’s annual Barbie gift tradition

The former world champion revealed that his daughters look forward to Hamilton’s presents every Christmas. Year after year, they receive huge packages that include Barbie dolls – items that have become a highlight of their festive celebrations.

“It’s a really nice gesture,” admits Rosberg, appreciating the kindness of his former rival. “Every Christmas, my two daughters find a huge package of presents from him on our doorstep.”

Despite their history, Rosberg couldn’t deny the charm of Hamilton’s gesture. He described the presents as “great” and seemed genuinely pleased that his daughters were enjoying them.

The joke goes on: Hamilton stays out

During the talk show, the discussion took a humorous turn when host Steven Gätjen jokingly suggested that while Hamilton was welcome to drop off the presents, he probably wouldn’t be allowed inside.

Rosberg was quick to get in on the joke, responding with a grin: “No, he has to stay outside. He’s welcome to leave the presents by the door. Thank you, that’s fine.

The playful exchange highlighted how Rosberg has come to terms with his daughters’ admiration for Hamilton, even if it remains an ironic twist given their past.

Hamilton’s Ferrari era and changing dynamics

Since his days battling Rosberg at Mercedes, Hamilton has continued his career at the highest level, winning several more championships. However, 2025 marks a major new chapter as he makes the shock move from Mercedes to Ferrari. In doing so, his association with Rosberg’s family has become even more of an amusing paradox – especially given the deep-rooted Ferrari-Mercedes rivalry in F1.

But for all the years of tension and competition, Hamilton’s thoughtful gestures suggest that their past battles are now more a part of history than lingering resentment.

A light-hearted rivalry lives on

Rosberg and Hamilton may never be the close friends they once were, but their relationship has certainly evolved. The rivalry that once divided them is now played out in a far more light-hearted way – through Christmas presents and playful jokes about doorstep deliveries.

Rosberg’s daughters may cheer for Hamilton on race day, but their father seems to have made peace with it. And as long as Hamilton continues to deliver his massive gift bundles, it seems the Rosberg household will remain happy – even if their F1 loyalties are divided.

MORE F1 NEWS – Russell: Mercedes fast

Russell reveals why Mercedes efforts make them dark horses for 2025 – Formula One has in recent years become somewhat predictable although there have been bright spots of high drama. The climax to the 2021 season was one of the most epic in living memory as Max Verstappen had to deny off a resurgent Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes.

The seven ties champion won against the odds the three Grand Prix prior to the season finale in Abu Dhabi, to set up what proved to be a cliff hanger finish to the year as the drivers title was decided on the last lap of the last race of the year.

2024 also delivered its fair share of excitement as Red Bull and Verstappen suffered a ten consecutive F1 weekend drought of wins whilst Lando Norris and McLaren were closing in to challenge for the championships… READ MORE ON THIS STORY
