Former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan recently revealed what Red Bull’s Chief Technology Officer Adrian Newey told him about the team’s plans for 2024. Speaking to talkSport, Jordan revealed that Newey is extremely optimistic about the development of the current Red Bull car, claiming that it will be difficult for other teams to catch up.
This could spell trouble for rivals such as Mercedes, especially as the F1 circuit prepares for this weekend’s United States Grand Prix.
Red Bull’s current dominance
Red Bull Racing have been almost unbeatable this season, winning almost every race. The team have already clinched the Constructors’ Championship and their star driver, Max Verstappen, has secured his third consecutive Drivers’ Championship.
Adrian Newey, the mastermind behind Red Bull’s RB19, is already looking ahead to the 2024 season with the aim of keeping Red Bull at the top of the sport.

Newey: F1’s design genius
Adrian Newey, Red Bull Racing’s Chief Technical Officer, is widely regarded as one of the most brilliant engineers in the history of Formula One. With a career spanning more than three decades, Newey has been the mastermind behind several championship-winning cars and his influence on the sport cannot be overstated.
Prior to joining Red Bull, Newey had already achieved legendary status through his work with teams such as Williams and McLaren. His innovative car designs, coupled with an almost uncanny ability to understand aerodynamics, played a pivotal role in those teams winning titles. Newey has a knack for pushing the boundaries of engineering while maintaining the delicate balance between speed, efficiency and safety.
Joining Red Bull Racing in 2006, Newey immediately set about improving a team that was relatively new to Formula One. The fruits of his labour were evident in the 2010 season when Red Bull won both the Constructors’ and Drivers’ Championships, a feat they repeated for three consecutive years. His work with star driver Sebastian Vettel during this period was particularly noteworthy, helping Vettel to four world titles.
One of Newey’s greatest strengths is his ability to adapt. As the FIA introduced major changes to aerodynamic regulations over the years, Newey’s designs not only adapted but often set the benchmark for other teams. This trait has been instrumental in the current success of Red Bull Racing, who have once again become a dominant force in F1, particularly with Max Verstappen at the wheel.

Inside information from Newey
Eddie Jordan revealed that he recently spoke to Adrian Newey at a social event. Both cycling enthusiasts who often ride together in Cape Town, Newey was candid about Red Bull’s future prospects. “Adrian tells me that he feels that the development of what they’ve got at the moment is going to be so difficult for anyone to catch up with,” Jordan revealed.
Depending on your allegiance, Jordan suggested, “get ready for either a boring time or an exciting time”.
Despite McLaren’s remarkable progress, they remain Red Bull’s main rivals heading into the Texas race weekend. Lewis Hamilton also has his sights set on a seventh victory at the circuit. However, Jordan played down Mercedes’ chances, stating, “I don’t care what engine Mercedes have, the car is not up to scratch. He insisted that Red Bull’s aerodynamic qualities and Verstappen’s talent made them almost unbeatable…”

The Verstappen factor
One of the things that sets Red Bull apart from the rest is Max Verstappen’s exceptional driving ability. “A lot of it, though, is the sheer talent that Max has,” says Jordan. Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio “Checo” Perez, hasn’t been able to replicate the same performance, further highlighting Verstappen’s brilliance behind the wheel.
In summary, Jordan felt confident enough to predict another win for Verstappen at the upcoming United States Grand Prix. He brushed off the minor mid-season stories, emphasising that there’s only so much other teams can do to catch up at this stage.

Eddie Jordan’s revelations, coming from Adrian Newey himself, set the stage for what could be another dominant season for Red Bull in 2024. If Newey’s optimism is realised, rivals such as Mercedes may have to go back to the drawing board. The trajectory that Red Bull are on could either make the next few seasons of F1 incredibly exciting for Red Bull fans, or somewhat monotonous for everyone else. Either way, Red Bull’s rivals should be on high alert.
