“Unheard of”… That’s what Lewis Hamilton said in Saudi Arabia about Red Bull’s performance since the start of the season. Fernando Alonso does not share this view. In an interview with France’s L’Equipe newspaper, the Aston Martin driver did not fail to point out that the British driver has also had dominant machines with Mercedes and that “he’s getting old” and “has a short memory”.
Fernando Alonso never misses an opportunity to tease Lewis Hamilton. Best of the rest behind the Red Bulls since the start of the season, the Spaniard disagreed with his former team-mate who, a few days ago, said that the car of Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez was the “best he had ever seen”.
“He’s getting old!”
“I don’t agree at all,” the two-time world champion replied in an interview with L’Equipe published on Friday.
“Last week [in Saudi Arabia] I finished 20 seconds behind Checo and Max. He and Rosberg were a minute ahead in 2014 and 2015. […] He has a short memory, he’s getting old!”
It should be remembered, however, that the appearance of the safety car helped to reduce the gaps in Jeddah. One thing is certain, the oldest driver on the grid seems to appreciate the current situation much more than the seven-time world champion, for obvious reasons.
“In a ‘normal’ car, he has weaknesses”
“With a normal car, you can see that he has weaknesses,” he told the sports daily.
“Before, he drove alone or sometimes with his team-mate. But look, he is the record holder for poles and George Russell has just given him a 2-0 in qualifying this season. […] It just goes to show how much the car is still a key factor…”.
These two will never see eye to eye clearly, the veteran racer clearly enjoying the issues faced by his former team mate.
Davidson: Hamilton should not act like Alonso
According to Sky Sports F1 Anthony Davidson, the former F1 driver Hamilton should not let his frustration at Mercedes’ problems lead him to make a “knee-jerk” decision to change teams.
The Spaniard’s career decisions prior to Aston Martin have been called into question, perhaps the most obvious example being his decision to leave Ferrari for McLaren in 2015.
“I’d say don’t have a knee-jerk reaction like Fernando Alonso in the past, which hasn’t worked out well for him until now [with Aston Martin],” Davidson told the Evening Standard.
“Just put faith in the team that they can turn it around.”

Vamos Fernando! Make us proud
This mediocre Alonso is always looking for a slightest opportunity to slide Lewis Hamilton out of ego and jealousy.
No one can “slide” Hamilton out of ego, not in this lifetime. Not with that body paint, jewelry and rainbow colored clothes.
But then Alonso is a racer, something hamilton will never be without a silver rocketship.
There’s no doubting Lewis Hamiltons record but how would that record stand if Hamilton hadn’t been driving for the most dominant team in recent history. Recently because he doesn’t have the best car on the track he is being outpaced by his younger and less experienced team mate.
