Christian Horner expects other F1 teams to react quickly. The Milton Keynes-based team boss expects a reaction from the other teams after the first Formula 1 round of the year was dominated by Red Bull Racing.
Red Bull boss Christian Horner expects the other teams on the grid – particularly Ferrari and Mercedes – to react fairly quickly and come back to fight at the front in the next few races after a Bahrain Grand Prix dominated by Red Bull.
On Sunday in Bahrain, Red Bull secured its first one-two finish of the year with star driver Max Verstappen winning and team-mate Sergio Perez finishing second. Both men were ahead of Spain’s Fernando Alonso at the chequered flag in his Aston Martin.
Horner expects big reaction from rivals
Although Red Bull showed a degree of dominance this weekend in Bahrain after locking up the front row of the grid and securing a one-two finish in the race, the Milton Keynes-based team boss prefers to remain cautious and expects a reaction from the other teams.
“We expect our rivals to come back stronger in the next few races. I’ve been here long enough to know that things can change quickly,” Horner said on Sunday evening in Bahrain.
“I still think these cars are still relatively immature and as the teams develop them and the upgrades come in, things will change.”
“Twenty three races is a real marathon and it’s about being consistent throughout the campaign,” added the British man.
After this first round of the year, Red Bull leads the constructors’ championship by 20 points over Aston Martin. In the drivers’ standings, Max Verstappen leads the championship ahead of team-mate Sergio Perez by seven points.

That’s humility for you. But legions of blind haters will not appreciate Horner, who reacts
only when unnecessarily needled by the likes of Wolff. If Wolff is quiet now without resorting to political statements, it is because he is licking his wounds. But he can’t stay silent for long.
Soon enough, he will be spewing his frustration. It will be fun to watch him!
