Gasly issues Red Bull an ultimatum

Pierre Gasly calls on Red Bull for his future in Formula 1. The Alpha Tauri driver is hoping to make a comeback at Red Bull Racing next season as team mate with Max Verstappen. In fact, the Frenchman has not hesitated to issue the Austrian team’s bosses an ultimatum about his future.

Since his debut in 2017, Pierre Gasly has on occasion made a name for himself in Formula 1. However, not everything has been easy for the Frenchman, who has had a fairly short experience with the Red Bull Racing senior team.

The 26-year-old driver was for a period a teammate of Max Verstappen in the 2019 season. But since then, Pierre Gasly has not driven the Austrian team’s car with Red Bull’s Helmut Marko insisting he must continue to prove himself at AlphaTauri. But Pierre Gasly is hoping to make a comeback alongside Max Verstappen, even though he only has next season to do so.

In fact, the Frenchman did not hesitate to call on his managers for his future, displaying great ambitions in the process inferring that if he can’t meet those ambitions at Red Bull, he’ll have to look elsewhere.

“I have my own ambitions and Red Bull knows that I want to be world champion”

“My contractual situation is very clear.” says Gasly,

“We will obviously have to talk about it, but I don’t want to have that in mind. I’m just focusing on performance and results.

“At the end of the day, I know what I can do, I know what I can achieve in Formula 1. At some point things will line up, but I can’t speak for Red Bull, it’s up to them.

“I have my own ambitions and they know I want to be world champion. They know who I am, they know who I am as a driver, they have seen me. I’ve been under contract with them for nine years, so they have some idea of my potential after all this time,” said Pierre Gasly in an interview reported by the French publication Nextgen-Auto.

  1. Good for him for being honest & open.
He indeed has to look elsewhere eventually if he never gets another chance in the senior team.
