Mercedes AMG F1 versus Red Bull Racing, the gloves are most certainly off as Red Bull team manager Christian Horner trashes Toto Wolff and his reputation in a shocking inditement on a personal level.
It’s no secret that Christian Horner and Toto Wolff are not the best of friends. And clearly, their relationship is not about to get any better.
For several seasons now, Red Bull and Mercedes have been engaged in a fierce battle. The two teams have shared all the titles since 2010. A situation that has created enormous tensions between the two teams, and their bosses are the perfect illustration of this. Christian Horner and Toto Wolff regularly argue in the media, culminating in last season’s battle for the title between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
The two men are clearly not ready to make peace, as Christian Horner’s new outburst shows.
“I don’t live in tax exile Monaco, managing a team from a distance”
“We are very different on this side. If I’m not on the circuit, I’m at the factory. I don’t live in tax exile Monaco, running a team from a distance. I am practical,” begins Horner,
“My diary is full from the moment I arrive to the moment I leave, dealing with issues within the team. And I have an open door policy at the factory. I grew up in this sport. I was a racing driver who turned to managing a team. I am a racer at heart.
“Toto comes from a very different background. He has a financial background and is very motivated by what the balance sheet says. The results dictate that performance. Does he share the same passion as a competitor like me or others? I have no idea.
“Will he be here in 10 years or will he have cashed in his dividends and be on his super yacht? I have no idea, but I’m leaning towards the second option,” said the Red Bull boss in a statement reported by Nextgen-auto.com
