George Russell issues a warning to Lewis Hamilton – This Formula 1 season, George Russell will team up with Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes. The British F1 driver warned that he has not changed his approach to the year in preparation for his duel with his fellow Brit and seven-time world champion, warning that it’s worked well for him so far.
After proving himself in Formula 1 at the wheel of his Williams F1, George Russell will have the opportunity to show what he can do with one of the best single-seaters in the field. The British driver will be driving for Mercedes this season and will also become Lewis Hamilton’s new team-mate, following Valtteri Bottas’ departure to Alfa Romeo.
In order to prepare himself for this duel with his fellow seven-time world champion, one might have expected George Russell to change his way of doing things. But in the end, he did not.
“I want to continue with the method that I have used for the last four or five years”
“Have I changed my preparation to face Lewis Hamilton? The answer is no, because the processes and routines I’ve had so far have got me that drive.” challenges Russell,
“I will sleep, eat and train in the same way because I was already giving my all to join Mercedes. If I had felt the need to do more, then I would have already started.
“It’s important not to over-analyse or change a system that has worked well for me. It might be different for someone else, but for me I want to continue with the method that I’ve had for the last four or five years,” George Russell said.
