For 2022, McLaren hopes to be able to fight for the top positions in Formula 1 again. Daniel Ricciardo has sent a big warning to Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen – They will be fighting for F1 wins if given half a chance.
In 2021, Daniel Ricciardo joined the McLaren Formula One team to support Lando Norris following the departure of Carlos Sainz Jr to Ferrari. And the Australian had some difficulty adapting to the British team. His results were therefore affected as he finished the year in eighth place.
However, the new regulations that will come into force in 2022 in Formula 1 give McLaren a new hope of fighting for the top spots. As a result, Daniel Ricciardo has sent a big warning to Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, saying he will fight anyone once he puts on his helmet despite the great rivalry between McLaren and Ferrari.
“I like to have a goal and something to chase”
“It’s always better when you are fighting for something.
“If we were in this isolated fight for third place, with Red Bull and [Mercedes] too far ahead and Ferrari too far behind, I think it would be less exciting. I like to have a goal and something to chase, so it was good.
“Of course we focused some of our efforts on [Ferrari], to try and beat them obviously, but it’s probably more of a team thing. I think for me, as a driver, once I put my helmet on and the lights go out on Sunday, it doesn’t matter what colour the car is. If you think you can beat them, then you’re going to try to beat them,”
