When asked about the rivalry with Mercedes, Red Bull boss Christian Horner revealed his ambitions for the end of the Formula One season.
While Mercedes F1 team has been sweeping all before it for some time with Lewis Hamilton, Red Bull’s boss was interviewed in the New York Times recently; Christian Horner wants to fight Mercedes until the end of the season.
The Red Bull boss admits that the stress level will be very high, but hopes that his team can hold off the world champions until December.
“That’s what the fans would like to see, although I don’t know if my nerves could take it. We will try to put Mercedes under pressure, which they have only had internally for the last seven years.
“We like to race against them, and there is nothing more exciting than racing against Lewis Hamilton, and that’s what we want to do.
“Of course, it’s difficult to balance the two things. But the team is doing a great job in that respect. At the moment we are juggling resources and obviously as long as there is an opportunity this year we will make sure we go for it.
“It’s exciting and demanding. It’s long days but the reward at the end, and the opportunity to integrate everything, to work as one team is fantastic. That’s why there’s so much excitement around this project, because the two things can complement each other.
“I have good people around me, we are attracting great people. It’s about empowering people and giving them the tools to do their job, and that’s always been my style. ” concludes Horner.
