Latifi on Williams: “has inherent weaknesses”

Nicholas Latifi had expressed some satisfaction after his 11th place in Imola for the third Formula 1 race in Italy having achieved a solid race – Nevertheless, the Canadian remains frustrated by the weaknesses of his Williams.

“It’s disappointing when you are so close to the points, it was a good race” he said. “The first few laps were quite difficult to manage and the race came together after that.” says the Canadian,

“I managed to extend my stint in a pretty good way, which put me in a good position to try and capitalise on something at the end. Obviously, when you have a restart in the last laps, you know that it will be full speed”.

“A couple of cars had gone off the track in front of me so it brought me closer [to the points], but I think we weren’t fast enough in the most important areas of the circuit.”

Latifi admits that his race was made difficult by the very nature of his Williams: “The car has inherent weaknesses and we were struggling in places where we would have needed to be fast to get the DRS.

“And even with the tyre life advantage I had over the guys in front of me, I just couldn’t really show any serious threat and challenge them.”
