Can Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher, make his Formula 1 debut in 2021 with Alfa Romeo?
Scuderia Ferrari director Mattia Binotto said he would speak with Mick Schumacher about his future in the near future.
Mick Schumacher, the son of seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher, is currently racing in Formula Two with the Prema Racing team and last weekend in Barcelona he took his fourth podium of the season.
Now fifth in the 2020 Formula 2 championship, the young German driver – who is also a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy – will begin discussions with Ferrari about his future in the coming weeks.
Asked about Schumacher last Sunday in Barcelona, Mattia Binotto said that the young German has improved significantly over the year and that a possible move to Formula One with a “small team” [Alfa Romeo] would be the most logical step for him.
“He’s shown great things in Formula 2. His goal was to improve and make progress, and he did that. “Binotto explained to Bild.
“We’ll soon be discussing what we’re going to do with him next year. It’s clear that F1 is the next logical step for him, in a smaller F1 team than ours, so he can get used to the new environment and get used to it. ”
