Ricciardo hit by grid penalty at home race

Free practice 2 has finished and it is interesting how teams are developing.

Can we see a glimpse of what the season will bring? Not really, but interestingly we can see that at some teams; the pecking order hasn’t been decided yet.

Ricciardo faces a 3 place grid penalty in the race for driving too fast during the red flag period. The car sets a time delta in it’s ECU and it’s unclear if this was a driver error or a systems error. Regardless the Australian can’t seem to have any luck at his home Grand Prix.

The Australian was on a hot lap, and likely near the front of the time sheet when the red flag was issued: “I was not too disappointed,” he confesses.

“I wasn’t on the greatest lap, the race simulations were better, I was happier with it. As for the qualifying performance, I’m convinced that we can still make some adjustments to the car to improve.”
