Breaking: Leaked imagery of Renault Alpine F1 livery

Images have been leaked of the 2021 Formula 1 Alpine livery (formerly the Renault F1 Team), of which Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon will contest the coming F1 season.

Sourced from someone close to the Renault CEO Luca de Meo, the teaser images will no doubt be published officially in the near future.

If they are to be proven correct, then the livery appears to be very similar to the European Regional Formula Championship by Alpine livery revealed back in Imola last year (original TJ13 news article is below this one).

It is understood that the livery below could be a testing special livery as it incorporates more black in the design than was expected. It was confirmed back in September that the car would be blue, white and red. To watch the leaked preview video, use the player below.

Last years all black testing livery revealed

But we might see something closer to the Imola livery for the actual race season. Last year, Renault tested at Barcelona with an all-black testing only livery before reverting to their usual yellow type seen during the Grand Prix weekends. More details are coming on 14th of January at 9am GMT.

Could the use of black be a testing only special livery?

Abiteboul leaves as Alpine F1 team boss

Meanwhile today it was revealed that team boss Davide Brivio would be replacing Cyril Abiteboul as team boss having announced his departure from MotoGP champions Suzuki on today.

“A new professional challenge and opportunity suddenly came to me and in the end I decided to take it. It has been a difficult decision,” Brivio said in a statement on the Suzuki team website.

This news doesn’t come as a big surprise to TJ13 readers. Indeed last year it became clear that significant management changes were coming in the F1 team, of which we reported on back in October when it became apparent that a ‘backstop’ deal had been agreed should Red Bull fail to secure engines after Honda’s departure this year. Alonso’s 2021 F1 car livery revealed – Alpine Formula 1

The livery of the Regional Formula presented this Sunday in Imola could well be a first glimpse of the 2021 livery of the future Alpine-Renault in F1.

This weekend in Imola, Renault F1 announced the merger between the FIA-certified European Regional Formula Championship, organised by the national sporting authority that is the Automobile Club d’Italia, and Formula Renault Eurocup to form a brand new category: the FIA-certified European Regional Formula Championship by Alpine.

The new championship will see the organiser ACI and its commercial arm ACI Sport as promoter team up with the legendary French sports car brand Alpine to create a unique showcase for young drivers after their first experience of single-seater racing in FIA certified Formula 4 national championships.

The category will offer competitors the opportunity to drive state-of-the-art cars to improve their understanding of tuning, vehicle dynamics and teamwork while having the chance to race internationally.

The FIA-certified European Regional Formula Championship by Alpine will comprise 10 two-race events per weekend, with three events scheduled in Italy and seven others across Europe. The grid will consist of a maximum of 36 cars in teams of up to three single-seaters, with the possibility of entering a fourth if driven by a woman. The car will be based on a Tatuus chassis. powered by a 1.8 litre Renault engine and fitted with Pirelli tyres. The new cars will be built by the competition department of the Alpine factory in Dieppe.

At the time of this announcement, a single-seater in the colours of Alpine was presented in the pit lane of the Imola circuit, and it is believed that this will be close to the final livery of the future Alpine-Renault in Formula 1 next year [Renault F1 will become Alpine F1 in 2021], and it will closely resemble that of the Regional Formula unveiled this Sunday.

Could this new junior Formula car livery be the next Renault Alpine F1 colours?

Indeed, the yellow colour specific to Renault should no longer be present in F1 from 2021 and should logically make way for Alpine blue.

It should also be remembered that next year the double world champion Fernando Alonso will make his big comeback in Formula 1 with the Alpine F1 team.

The Spaniard will be driving alongside Frenchman Esteban Ocon.
