Hamilton announcement

Hamilton promises big things for Ferrari after winter testing with his big announcement – Now wearing the red of Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton has begun to settle into his new surroundings as he embarks on one of the most eagerly anticipated challenges of his career. After years with Mercedes, the seven-time world champion has been testing the SF-25 in Bahrain as part of the winter programme, gradually getting to grips with his new machine.

This Friday he shared his thoughts with the media, and was overwhelmingly positive about his new chapter with the Scuderia, although he admitted that the transition has not been without its difficulties.

Discovering the SF-25 and adapting to Ferrari

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari was one of the biggest stories in the modern history of Formula One, marking a seismic shift not only for his career but for the sport as a whole. Now, as he gets his first real feel for the SF-25 on track, the Briton is growing increasingly comfortable with the team and their approach to racing.

Having completed several sessions in Bahrain, he spoke candidly about his impressions of the new car and his adaptation to Ferrari’s working methods.

While there is always a learning curve when changing teams, Hamilton made it clear that he is determined to understand every detail of his new environment. With pre-season testing a critical period for both drivers and their engineers, the Ferrari newcomer is wasting no time in adapting to his new surroundings.

“The most positive feeling I’ve had in a long time”.

Reflecting on his first impressions of the SF-25, Hamilton admitted that judging a car too quickly can be misleading. However, he didn’t hold back in sharing his enthusiasm, stating that this transition has already given him a sense of optimism that he hasn’t felt in years.

“I’ve learned over the last four years that you can’t judge too much on first impressions,” he remarked. “With the previous generation of cars, it was much easier to know early on where you were in terms of sensations,

“But I’d say this is the most positive feeling I’ve had in a long time.”

His words suggest that Ferrari’s 2025 challenger might be more competitive than its predecessors, at least from a driver’s perspective. While raw lap times and data will ultimately determine the car’s potential, Hamilton’s confidence bodes well for the Italian team as they look to return to the front of the grid.

A strong working relationship with the team

Aside from the performance of the SF-25, Hamilton also stressed the importance of his growing relationship with the Ferrari engineers and staff. Integrating into a team that operates differently to what he was used to at Mercedes is a process, but the early signs are promising.

“It’s a very short time for everyone, but these few days in the car are crucial,” he explained. “We’re just concentrating on doing the best we can with what we have and understanding the package we have. For my part, I’m learning more and more about how the team likes to work and we’re making little adjustments here and there to improve my efficiency and that of our teamwork. It’s very positive”.

The Briton’s comments suggest that the synergy between him and the team is already developing, which is crucial as Ferrari look to maximise his vast experience and winning mentality. Adapting to a new car, new engineers and a different racing philosophy is no easy task, but Hamilton’s optimism suggests he is quickly finding his feet.

The road ahead for Hamilton and Ferrari

With just a short window to go before the season opener in Bahrain, Hamilton and Ferrari have a lot of work to do to fine-tune their approach. Testing is one thing, but race weekends present an entirely different challenge.

Ferrari fans, long awaiting a return to consistent championship contention, will be eager to see if the seven-time world champion can make an immediate impact.

Hamilton’s early positivity, coupled with Ferrari’s ambition to challenge Red Bull, suggests that the Scuderia could be in a much stronger position this season. If the SF-25 delivers on its potential and the Hamilton-Ferrari partnership continues to grow, this year could mark the beginning of a new era for both driver and team.

MORE F1 NEWS – Verstappen hopes: “…worse than last year”

Red Bull’s star driver hopes for stronger 2025 season – Max Verstappen, now a four-time world champion, has set his sights on a more competitive season with Red Bull’s RB21. After taking the wheel of the new challenger during pre-season testing in Bahrain, the Dutchman expressed a mixture of optimism and realism. Reflecting on the turbulent 2024 season, he made his stance clear: “It can’t be worse than last year.”

After a dominant start to 2024, Red Bull’s performance took a worrying dip, allowing McLaren and Ferrari to close in. What initially looked like another runaway title season for Verstappen and his team turned into an uphill battle.

With just two wins in the final 14 races, an increasingly unpredictable car and inconsistent performances, Red Bull ended the year far from where they had hoped. Now, with a new season ahead, Verstappen and the team are eager to put those struggles behind them…READ MORE ON THIS STORY
