After five years with Mercedes AMG F1, number 2 to Lewis Hamilton; Valtteri Bottas has started a new chapter in his Formula 1 career with Alfa Romeo. The Finn is experiencing the best of times at the moment.
In this new Formula One season, there are several changes on the grid. This is particularly the case with Valtteri Bottas. For the past five years, the Finn has been used to driving in the shadow of Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes. A situation that came to an end in the off-season. Bottas has packed his bags in order to take up the position at Alfa Romeo. And for the moment, there are no regrets.
“I’m really happy with the decision I’ve taken”
Valtteri Bottas explains his choice to join Alfa Romeo to continue his F1 career saying:
“I’m really happy with the decision I made, choosing Alfa Romeo. I am very happy and I intend to make the most of it.
“I think that if we can continue to improve the car, then there is no doubt that we should still be able to fight for Q3 and points finishes,” explained the Finnish driver.
Anyone who thinks Ferrari has no power advantage over the rest, except Honda, needs to take stock. Mercedes knows it’s on the back foot, leave aside handling issues. Rectifying the deficit within cost caps/development rules will be impossible now.
