Charles Leclerc’s confession after the F1 Barcelona test – Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc set the fastest time on the second day of preseason Formula 1 testing in Barcelona. But the Ferrari driver is not getting carried away.
Charles Leclerc has had a tricky 2021 season. Fourth in 2019, his best finish since his Formula 1 debut, the Monegasque driver finished in seventh place, behind teammate Carlos Sainz Jr (5th). In general, the two Ferrari drivers disappointed and looked underwhelming last F1 season.
The Scuderia hopes to be in the fight in 2022. The Italian team worked hard during the off-season and the first results are showing. During the Barcelona test, Leclerc set the fastest time on the second day and Ferrari finished with the highest mileage. But the Monegasque is not giving importance to these performances and already has his head turned to the next tests, in Bahrain.
“It means absolutely nothing”
“I feel good because we did all the tests we wanted to do and doing the most kilometres was the most important thing, and we did it without any major problems. So it was a positive test, in terms of performance, there is nothing to say at the moment.
“On the other hand, I think we are working harder than ever with our heads down. Obviously, it’s always nice to see yourself in P1, but that doesn’t mean anything. I think everybody in the team is aware of that, so yes, we haven’t focused on performance at all, we’re just focusing on ourselves and now we’re already focused on Bahrain,” Charles Leclerc says.
