Hamilton admits defeat to Rosberg
Lewis Hamilton finally conceded yesterday and admitted it is now unlikely he will stop Nico Rosberg from winning the Formula One title after claiming his rival is “doing all he has to do” to get over the finish line and seal his maiden championship.
“I am happy that I beat everyone and I am happy that, with the same car as Nico — and Nico is driving at his best right now — he had nothing on me,” Hamilton said.
Nico is doing all he has to do. He has finished every race, not had any problems, whereas I have.
I am in an awkward position going into the last race. It doesn’t really make a big difference if I go and drive like I do right now because I have already lost so much through the year.
I don’t give up because you never know what could happen — it is unlikely — but you never know what could happen.
I am, and I will be proud of myself, as long as I continue to perform. What a year. To have nine wins is amazing.”
OTD Lite: 1987 – Ferrari’s first 1-2 in over 2 years
The season-ending Australian Grand Prix had an end-of-term feeling about it as Nelson Piquet had already clinched the title. But that did not matter to Gerhard Berger, the Ferrari driver in supremely confident mood after his victory in the previous round. He claimed pole from Prost’s McLaren and led from start to finish – despite a stinking cold, sore throat and bad earache – from team-mate Michele Alboreto as Ferrari claimed its first 1-2 for over two years. Ayrton Senna had finished second but was disqualified when it was found the ducting for brake cooling on his Lotus was 2.5mm too wide. The race also marked the final outing in a Williams for newly-crowned champion Piquet, who moved to Lotus for the following season.

Timo Glock joins the Bathurst 12hr 2017 grid
Mark Winterbottom will suit up for his first tilt at the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour, joining a pair of international stars at BMW.
The outgoing Supercars champion will rejoin former teammate Steven Richards and current DTM champion Marco Wittmann aboard one of BMW Team SRM’s BMW M6 GT3 cars.
Former F1 racer and current DTM star Timo Glock will make his Mount Panorama debut in the team’s ‘Bathurst Legends’ entry, joining Supercars legends and Fox Sports commentators Mark Skaife and Russell Ingall, as well as two-time Bathurst 1000 winner Tony Longhurst.
Button wants answers from McLaren
Jenson Button is demanding answers from McLaren after a dismal Brazilian Grand Prix.
“We need to go back to the factory and work out what it is that’s wrong with the car,” he said. “On Friday, the car was working really well, I was really comfortable with the car and it had a really strong rear end.
“Then on Saturday, it wasn’t working and on Sunday it was just exaggerated because of the conditions,” he added. “Finishing last in the wet is unusual for me, normally I’m pretty good.”
“So there’s definitely something wrong because I don’t think I’ve forgotten how to drive in the wet.”

Mmmmmm,mind games. Its not over until the fat lady sings. We have seen so many times before that this game can change with a single part failing. I do hope that Nico get the title but I have been shocked at his driving in the last few races, he is racing for points rather than pushing and this in my book is a weak way to take a championship.
Weak? Perhaps. Champion anyway? Yes.
The saying goes: to finish first, first you have to finish. And in Nico’s case he doesn’t have to finish first at all. He’ll be considered by so (sooooo) many as an “unworthy” champ anyway, so I don’t think he’ll mind how he gets it, as long as he gets it.
Not an awful lot different from those who don’t consider his father a worthy WC and say if only Villenueve hadn’t be killed or Pironi didn’t get his legs mangled. Unfortunately Villenueve was killed and Pironi did get his legs mangled and at the end of the season Keke had the most points and won the WC fair and square.
His desire to win the championship trumps his desire to win the race, unless he wins the pole in Abu Dhabi.
