Predictable nitpick here: Vettel would have had the neccessary points and time for a Superlicense. Danny RIC however had not 😉
Five of the 2015 drivers would not have gotten the Superlicense at the time of their debut due to lack of points and/or years in openwheelers:
– Daniel Ricciardo (38 pts)
– Jenson Button (5 pts)
– Kimi Räikkönen (10 pts, only 1 year in single seaters)
– Max Verstappen (20 pts, only 1 year in single seaters)
– Marcus Ericson (24 pts)
Contrary to AJ’s claim, Alonso (50 pts) and Vettel (45 pts) would have gotten the Superlicense without problems. So, interestingly would have Maldonado (88 pts). The ‘not even a question’ award goes to Lewis Hamilton (103 pts) and Nico Hülkenberg (150 pts).
Not sure if you took this into account but it’s only the three years before the application that count, ie you have to score 40 or more points in 3 years to qualify for a nonexistent seat.
Yes, it was taken into account. Heck, three years before they came to F1 Alonso and Vettel were not old enough to shave, but collected enough points in F3.5, F3 and F3000 (which was the then counterpart of GP2)
