I still couldn’t work out how that happened, I did see the little spat with his team mate but it was practically a love tap,my only conclusion was that lotus had run out of front wings so it had to be a rear one he destroyed this race.😂

Rosberg’s control of the race was great but Maldonado is entertainment. Banging and clashing his way forward, daring passes, parts flapping and then retirement…classic Maldonado drive..

I considered Sainz and Bottas, as they both had very good weekends, improving and learning during the sessions, and maximizing their performances when it counted.
But voted for Rosberg because he was just excellent this weekend… Found a good set-up early, fine tuned it, but didn’t throw away the set-up when conditions became variable Saturday. Excellent performance on the afternoons of Saturday and Sunday to maximize points. Well done!
Yes, voted for Rosberg too. Good quali led into a good race. Once he nailed the start he was away. Some will consider it too easy of a win, with his main challenger checked by a Ferrari, but he gave himself the best chance to secure a win like that.
I voted Lewis because without either the poor start or the poor first pit stop he would have chased down Rosberg and won the race!
Lol. Poor start was Lewis’ mistake and he couldn’t pass a Ferrari on newer tyres…

Regarding the start, I just read a piece by Andrew Benson blaming a systems malfunction for his bad start. I couldn’t see anything/anyone else mentioning that – does anyone at TJ13 know anything more about it?
The clutch system used at the start is in effect a manual system – however it requires the driver and the engineer to set it up correctly – if they get it wrong or the driver doesn’t release the first and second clutches at exactly the right time – then the car either bogs down – or wheel spins.
The systems can of course malfunction – but when they do – the failure is usually fairly catastrophic.
Conversely, drivers know when they don’t quite nail it – which happens more than we are informed about.
Both Mercedes drivers have been unhappy with the current clutch system – because they are not getting the same feel as the system from 2014. Rosberg chose to revert to last years clutch this weekend. Hamilton stuck with the new system.
Hamilton was careful with his words when he blamed his ‘faulty’ start. I would read into it he is just not happy with the system and that he and his engineers simply failed to get it set up quite right.
Interesting information about the poor feel of the 2015 Mercedes clutch, and that Nico chose to use the 2014 clutch this weekend.

I just noticed that yesterday Hamilton seemed to think that he had the same clutch system as Nico.
In this interview with Sky yesterday after qualy, Lewis said, “We’ve both got the exact same clutches, so naturally we should have the same start. If I’m fresher tomorrow and have slightly better reaction time, it might make a difference by Turn One. So that’ll be a goal.”

The conspiracists will now have a field day. There’s the dodgy pit stop… different systems on the car… Lewis forced to make a third stop when he had track position over Rosberg and felt he could get to the end on his hard tyres… 😉

I didn’t think this was in any way an exciting weekend, after the hype of big updates being promised and nothing really changed.
It’s a shame they do so much testing at the track and the teams are so well prepared.
No-one really stood out, so I have it to Rosberg for his clean weekend.
It’s not just the testing that’s the issue. It’s the dynamics of the circuit design.

This is a tough one this week, I wish I could vote for kimi but his heart just doesn’t seem to be in it this week,seb?..that middle stint threw away a chance of a second place,yes,some of it was traffic but his pace was just too slow. I think really I will have to eat my words and vote for one of the Mercs..Lewis?..again,his heart just looked elsewhere today,there was moments of a spark but his radio messages told a different story.It could be that the Mercs just cant follow a car closely as he did struggle behind a very wide ferrari but even so he didnt really push Seb until he had clear air so for me its Nico, he drove a really smart race and really won it yesterday with pole.let’s hope he can carry this over to Monaco so we can have a good 4 way battle.
Everytime Lewis wins the great and the good, amd the hippos, tell us that a potato could have won in that Merc, so its wrong to vote for Lewis. As a result, it clearly must be wrong to vote for Nico too, right… Huh? In which case, I’ll give it’ Bottas. Lad did a decent job, he has an Alonso like ability to get close to a cars performance limit (out driving, or beyond the cars capabilities i think idiots call it).

Lewis was a touch fortunate today because he could run an alternate strategy because the Ferrari’s were nowhere. This wasn’t possible for Mercedes particularly in China.

Hey, I voted for Nico, hit the vote button and nothing happened. So, as I tried to vote again but grazed my finger (on my iPhone) over —– Will Stevens!!! Maybe my subconscious prohibited me from voting for anyone other than Hamilton…
Anyway, Nico’s weekend was excellent and deserves all the accolades he receives for the next two weeks… including, Driver of the Weekend.
I don’t think there were any stand out performances this weekend. There were a few sub-standard performances, notably Kimi, Lewis and Merhi.
On that basis I guess it has to go to Nico, although he didn’t out perform the car really, but neither did anyone else really. Nasr did ok too.
Merhi is carrying 12kg more than Stevens – normally Merhi is faster than Stevens.

Rosberg and Sainz are the top-2 for me. Voted for Sainz, since it is absurd to see Hamilton in 2nd place. Losing qualifying to his team mate, bad start, unable to pass Vettel on track. Finally able to pass not due to driver ability, but by pit stop strategy (which wasn’t his decision). How does that add up to a good driver performance?
