The #F1 Bar Exam: 06th November 2014

Welcome to another week of TheJudge13 F1 Bar Exam.

Last week’s question(s): Can you name the driver, team, race and track where the photo was taken. Can you also name the car (type) and where the driver finished in the race?

philippe_streiff__great_britain_1988The answer(s) I was looking for were: The driver in the photo was Frenchman, Philippe Streiff, driving for French team AGS during the 1988 British Grand Prix held at Silverstone. In this photo he drives a JH23-Cosworth V8 in which he qualified 16th. The race did not go much better for the Frenchman, a broken rear wing ended his race on lap 8.

Streiff was born on June 26, 1955. He participated in 55 Formula One Grands Prix, debuting on October 21, 1984. He achieved one podium, and scored a total of 11 championship points.

In 1989, during pre-season testing a crash, so serious the roll-bar broke on impact, left him a quadriplegic and thus using a wheelchair.

Although Streiff is handicapped it has not stopped him developing a successful business empire.

He was the organiser of the annual Elf Kart Masters at Bercy and runs Streiff Kart, a permanent karting centre in the north of Paris. He also runs a company which is converting vehicles for handicapped users and is the French importer for Gillet sports cars.

Well done Johnny, Cassius42, Paparadiation, Tony, Milestone11, Roberto and Mike!
