Pierre Gasly was furious after qualifying in Monaco for the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, and attacked his AlphaTauri team. For after finishing sixth, seventh and fifth in the three free practices, everything looked like a decent weekend for the Frenchman, but now Gasly is down to 17th on the grid ahead of the race.
“I’m extremely disappointed and I can’t put into words how I feel right now,” Gasly said after his Q1 exit.
The AlphaTauri driver had not made it across the finish line in time to start another lap after the red flag (brought out by teammate Yuki Tsunoda) in the first section, leaving him to sit idly by and watch as the clock ticked down.
“I don’t know what happened, it’s just a mess,” Gasly told Canal +.
“We had a good car all weekend, we did a good job and then in qualifying it all went wrong.
“It’s unacceptable from the team’s point of view, from my point of view. I don’t know what happened but it’s just a mess.”
When asked if he had spoken to the team about what had happened, Gasly replied: “No, and I don’t want to talk to them either.
“I’m just so angry and disappointed right now.”
AlphaTauri boss Franz Tost apologised to Gasly after the session, but the Frenchman was in no mood to accept it.
“I don’t want an apology, I want results,” he said. “It’s just not good enough.”
Gasly will start Sunday’s race from 17th on the grid, with teammate Tsunoda in 14th.
Pierre Gasly is an arrogant prick.
