Brundle believes Wolff’s threats are lies

What to make of Toto Wolff’s latest statements on Friday regarding Lewis Hamilton’s Formula 1 future? The Austrian Toto Wolff still doubts that his driver will return to the grid in Formula 1. He hopes, he wants to believe, but he does not want to say that it is a certainty at this stage, Martin Brundle doesn’t believe this rhetoric.

For former F1 driver Martin Brundle says he has no reason to stop:

“To be honest, I don’t believe in Toto’s talk in the media. I don’t believe it at all. He’s just continuing to put pressure on the FIA, and that’s normal because the Federation owes answers to Mercedes, Hamilton and all the fans about the events in Abu Dhabi.”

“But what about afterwards? For 2022? I’m sure Toto has asked Lewis what he plans to do. Formula One has been a fantastic success for the Mercedes-Benz brand, and Lewis, at 37, is still at the top. He is incredibly determined and competitive, he will be back.”

Mercedes recently denied it had a deal with the FIA to knock some heads, those of race director Michael Masi as well as single-seater technical manager Nikolas Tombazis.

Whether or not there is any truth to such behind-the-scenes pressure, Brundle admits he is uncomfortable with the idea of any team or driver having such influence.

“I’m a bit uncomfortable about a team and a driver starting to determine who does what at race control, or any other role in F1 – it’s the tail wagging the dog to some extent.”

“If I was a Formula One boss and my driver came to me and said I don’t want to race anymore if such and such a guy stays in his position, I would immediately stop thinking about that guy and start thinking about my driver. Has he lost his motivation?

“But Lewis will be back and he’ll press the accelerator even harder.”

  1. Well
MARTIN WE HAVE SEEN CHEATERS RUINING F1 FERRARI ,FUEL , REDBULL REAR WINGS ETC
AND NOW WE HAVE THE FIA MANIPULATING RESULTS
AND MARTIN DONT YOU DARE SAY THATS A FALSE STATEMENT BECAUSE ONLY 5 CARS WERE LET THRU SO VERSTAPPEN WAS DIRECTLY BEHIND SIR LEWIS
HAD YOU BEEN IN SIR LEWIS POSITION YOU WOULD HAVE GONE BONKERS
BUT THEN YOU WOULD NOT HAVE HAD MASI AS A FIA DIRECTOR
IF YOU CANNOT SEE THE CHEATING GOING ON MATE YOU SHOULD HANG UP YOUR MICROPHONE AND HANG YOUR HEAD IN SHAME
I AM 69 years old and for over 50 years I have followed
GRAND PRIX as it was now F1 IS A COMPLETE SHAMBLES
T HAVE SEEn MICHAEL SCHUMACHER GET
THE 7 WORLD TITLES AND RIGHTLY SO LEWIS
HAS EQUALLED THAT AND NOBODY SEEMS TO WANT IT BETTERED

    GIVE UP YOUR DAY JOB

    BECAUSE IF MASI IS
STILL A RACE DIRECTOR I WILL NEVER WATCH
ANOTHER F1 RACE AGAIN BECAUSE SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE AND I DONT WANT TO WITNESS
    THAT SITUATION EVER AGAIN
THE STANDARD OF DRIVING IS CRASH AND DASH
VERSTAPPEN CANNOT DRIVE HE AIMS AND
INTIDATES HIS COMPETITORS BY THREATENING TO CRASH

    IT WILL HAPPEN

  2. I have lost total respect for Martin Brundle. According to Brundle, he is uncomfortable with the idea of any team or driver pressuring the FIA for answers and justice. But he was ok with the proceedings of Masi’s manipulation of the
Abu Dhabi GP. Brundle’s bias towards RedBull and Verstappen is sickening!!

  3. Good on Brundle for calling this pathetic bluff. The British media run with this nothing burger like it’s the next Watergate. All in hope Masi gets sacked. If the FIA will cave to the insecure divas, then they’ll be even more pathetiic than this drama. If Statpaddington retires, he retires and the sport will move on.

  4. At the end of the day the race director got it wrong .why would you say lapped cars can’t unlap themselves and then change your mind and then not let all cars unlap themselves as they have done in f1races for years and then let mv on new tyres stop cars unlappin g themselves .come on lh led from start to( finish) drove perfect race an lost title because of the most massive mistake by FIA ever

  5. Have any of you guys ever thought that maybe Hamilton is pissed off at Mercedes for not bringing him in for tires. He sounds it pretty mad on the radio and it wasn’t be the first time ether. Just a thought.
