Max Verstappen clearly calls out Lewis Hamilton

Less than a week after winning his first Formula 1 world title, Max Verstappen is sending a huge message to Lewis Hamilton for next season, clearly calling out the British ex F1 Champion.

Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have had an incredible battle this season that has kept Formula 1 fans on the edge of their seats right up until the final lap of the season. But in the end it was the Dutchman who got the better of the Briton just a few hundred metres from the finish line of this exciting season.

And despite the rivalry between the two drivers, which has led to several clashes on the track, Max Verstappen is hoping to meet up with Lewis Hamilton again in 2022, and effectively calls him out to challenge for the title again next year.

“I hope the rivalry with Lewis will continue”

“Emotions run high at the end of a race. So after losing the title on the last lap? I think it’s normal (as a reaction).

“It must have been incredibly difficult for Lewis and his team, but he’s won seven titles, so maybe it comforts him in a way. Next year I’m sure he’ll do his best, at a very high level.

“It will depend on the competitiveness of our cars, they are totally changing, but personally I hope the rivalry with Lewis will continue.

“He has been an incredible competitor. It was a real pleasure to race against him. It was very intense but I’m happy to have had a season like that.

“I’ve been dreaming of this for a long time,”

But Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff said he and his driver Lewis Hamilton were still disappointed after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

“To be honest, even today, I can’t understand what happened.” said Wolff today,

“To me, it still seems surreal. When I think back, at 6:27 p.m. the right decision was made, and four minutes later, out of nowhere, suddenly five cars were cleared to split between Lewis and Max. Ten seconds later, the decision was made that the safety car would return this whole one with only a handful of laps to go.

“To be honest, to me it still feels like a nightmare. That’s why I was in total disbelief on Sunday and still am until today. ”

        • Me too, totally disgusted and appaler by Massi, Hornet have him the word and he did abide. What a damn shit F1, if Masi stays ,I will no longer watch F1 as this is a total cheat

          • Verstapen will meet a different Hamilton next season.
Lewis was giving him benefit of doubt, but next time he will receive what he deserves.
He will always be remembered as a cheat because, one could clearly see that despite Masi saying lapped cars would stay as they are and then changing hid mind and call in The Safety Car one lap early, doesn’t add up to anything else.
It was the revenge of an Ozzie against Britain.

        • Hi hope you all will get over yourself safety cars is part of racing and I can understand that they wanted the two champion contenders race to the end. The result would have been the same if it was a normal safety car procedure. The fact was that merq had the wrong strategy and some bad luck and a lot of bad spotsman ship in the end. Gary Kirsten said it right the one time he was given wrongly out when he said there was a lot off times where he should have been given out and he wasn’t and that the good and bad decisions balance out over your sport career

  1. From Pete. I understand why Hamilton might not continue in a competition that is utterly devoid of fairness
that allowed all other drivers to change their tyres but not the driver who fairly out in front.F1 is now more like snakes and ladders run by idiots.

    • That is the worst reasoning I’ve seen for something being unfair. It being difficult to changd tyres under safety car when in the lead is just racing. It is what it is.

Hamilton had the opportunity to pit on lap 36. The first lap of virtual safety car. He didn’t, that was his fault. I would’ve insisted even if my team told me to stay out.

      • Exactly!

If Sore Lew had pitted at the VSC even after Verstappen, he still would have kept the position and have fresher tires for another eventuality –a good thing it was because a mercedes-powered driver’s crash.

Mercedes having the best cards, bet twice in a losing strategy and of course lost.

And then acted dignified saying that the title was Sore Lew’s before actually finishing racing.

The entitlement was all his/theirs. The title? not really.

  2. Well if Hamilton in a faster fresher (1 race old engine) Mercedes can’t battle it out with Verstappen in an race worn out (7 races old engine) simply because Redbull aced there strategy and got new tires then how do we measure him as a good driver only when his car is superior to the competition by a vast margin!? Just asking…

    • We can.

6 of Sore Lew’s 7 titles were due to having clearly superior car/team package and no great competition inside his team –except 2016 that he lost due to Rosberg stopping playing Mr Nice.

This year that package was marginally superior yet he still couldn’t take full advantage and was found out lacking.

Many times this year you could see his facial expressions and body language of incredulity after losing when he was expected to have won and he did his uttermost effort yet failed.

    • Excatly. As a matter of fact: In general LH is considered one of the greatest. Also in general, Bottas is considered quite mediocre. If we agree on that, .. how come Bottas outqualifies LH occasionally? or is at least very close. Even winning races… every year again.

Should the conclusion not be that
      A) Bottas is a lot better then we think ór
      B) LH is not as good as we think?

All LH’s championships were won in superior material without any resistance. Whenever there wás any resistance (Rosberg, Verstappen) he lost …
