Sebastian Vettel, caught up in a more than complicated season, is in his last weeks as a Ferrari Formula 1 driver – According to Ralf Schumacher, this is the reason why Charles Leclerc is the Scuderia’s favourite driver.
This F1 season is turning into a fiasco for Sebastian Vettel. The German Grand Prix driver has never achieved a better result than a sixth place and is 14th in the Formula One World Championship, 67 points behind his team-mate Charles Leclerc, who is performing miracles with a Ferrari F1 at best described as far from its best.
The last year of Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari won’t exactly go down in the history books for the right reasons, but as Ralf Schumacher explains, the four-time world champion isn’t the only one responsible for the situation.
It has to be said that even before the beginning of this Covid afflicted season, Ferrari announced the split of Sebastian Vettel by replacing him by Carlos Sainz. It is no surprise that the Italian team has now bet everything on Charles Leclerc who represents the future of the Scuderia.
“Ferrari really focused on one driver this year and left Vettel behind. Sebastian is only told what he absolutely must know.
“Last year there were races where Vettel was at a completely different level than he is this year. You only have to look at the Canadian or Austrian Grand Prix, where he outperformed his team-mate.
“So not everything is Sebastian’s fault, the team is also responsible for his drop in speed”, says Michael Schumacher’s brother in an interview with Germany’s Sport1 radio station.
Sebastian Vettel will have the opportunity to turn things around again next season with Aston Martin, formerly Racing Point.
