Verstappen’s rant

Max Verstappen is likely to finish third in the 2020 Formula 1 championship behind the two Mercedes.

With a victory at Silverstone and 9 GP podiums this season, Max Verstappen is not happy. The Dutchman has almost always suffered from when the Mercedes’ two silver arrows were up against him.

Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, respectively 1st and 2nd in the driver championship, are almost out of reach for Max Verstappen, whereas there are only 4 F1 Grand Prix left to be contested. The Dutchman questioned the Red Bull cars.

In a statement reported by France’s NextGen-Auto.com, Max Verstappen explained that he wasn’t at the level of the Mercedes.

“I never thought I would be in a battle for the championship. I will finish third [overall] if I stop dropping out in the race. In general, this is our place.

“If you are 60 points or 10 behind in third place, it doesn’t really matter, you are slower. We are just trying to get 110% of the car’s potential but it is not able to keep up with a Mercedes.

“We just have to learn why we have these problems because it’s not good to have several retirements. We just have to try to do better.

“Sometimes I find it hard to accept that third place is the best possible. I always try, when I see an opportunity, to get a little more out of it.”
