Grosjean returns to partner Alonso?

While he will leave Haas at the end of the season, Romain Grosjean is now looking for a new seat for next season, and he confessed that he is in discussions, including a Formula 1 team.

After five years of good and loyal service, Romain Grosjean has not been extended by Haas for next season, and will be looking to find a new team to continue his Formula 1 career. Like Kevin Magnussen, it would be for financial reasons that the American team would have decided to part with its two drivers, preferring in this way to get the opportunity to work with drivers from Formula 2 for the first time.

In a difficult 2020 season, where he scored his first two points at the beginning of October at the German Grand Prix, Romain Grosjean could however have less difficulty than expected to find a new drop point if the Frenchman’s revelations to the French press are correct.

“There are few places left, but my son told me recently “the impossible can become possible”. I have started some discussions and hope to be able to announce something soon.

“I miss the feeling of victory. I miss arriving on a race weekend knowing that I can fight for victory, that I can fight for a podium, rather than maybe just hoping to get out of Q1 and, if things happen, score a point or two,” said Romain Grosjean.

Quite what the French driver means is anyone’s guess, but in order to fight for victories one would assume he requires a car from a team based in the current top teams – Mercedes, Red Bull and perhaps even Renault, soon to be Alpine.

Incredibly unlikely is the first two teams, although Red Bull are very likely seeking alternatives to the underperforming Alex Albon. But could Grosjean be referring to the Renault F1 team?

If that were the case, he would replace Esteban Ocon and once again partner Fernando Alonso at the Enstone team. A partnership not seen since 2009 after a young Grosjean replaced  Nelson Piquet Jr.

Regardless, if Grosjean does extend his F1 career by returning to the French team he last raced for in 2015 – he therefore would have only raced in F1 for just 2 teams over a long 10 year period, Alpine, was Renault, then Lotus and before that Renault. A team he scored 8 podiums with between 2012 and 2015.

  1. They wanna get shot of that Romain grosjean altogether. He’s useless and all he does seem to his crash. Hope you come to your senses and not letting grosjean partner Fernando Alonso in the Renault team. All Fernando needs is a twatt like grosjean to be his partner.. grosjean doesn’t deserve to be in one of the top teams. He cost the team more money than he’s worth. I’ll be better off in GP2. The Haas team has done the right thing by kicking him out and bringing Mick Schumacher in too drive for them. Best movie ever apart from Fernando Alonso moving to Renault. Come on Fernando you got this.
