Leclerc ditches Ferrari for another cause

The Ferrari Formula 1 driver agreed to associate his image with a fundraising campaign for the Italian Red Cross, making most of the opportunity during lockdown to switch from Ferrari to another Italian organisation.

Last month, Italy quickly became the European country hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and now counts more than 18,000 deaths.

The Italian Red Cross has therefore launched a campaign to raise funds to help fight the pandemic and Charles Leclerc has joined Juventus football player Cristiano Ronaldo, AC Milan’s Paolo Maldini and a host of other celebrities to encourage donations.

“In this moment of emergency, even the tiniest action can lead to an enormous result.” wrote Charles Leclerc on social networks.

“Let’s join together and continue fighting this challenge with courage. Help me support those who never give up.”

To date, more than €75,000 has been raised by the Italian Red Cross, which will provide concrete support to the most needy families with food vouchers.

In parallel to this action, the Ferrari driver is also part of a group of F1 drivers who have set up a virtual championship on the 2019 F1 game with the aim of collecting donations to help fight the pandemic.
