“I’m trying to do the best I can in my life to make him proud from up there.” – In an interview given to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Niki Lauda’s son, Mathias Lauda, confessed about his Formula 1 Champion father: “In the morning when I wake up I still find it hard to believe he is no longer around me.”

“I always have him in my thoughts and I miss him very much” says Mathias.

It’s a feeling that anyone who has lost a parent knows very well. It’s been eight months already, since then a new chapter in my life has begun.

“I’m trying to do my best in my life to make him proud from up there”. confesses the son of Niki.

“Motorsport really was everything to him. He started very young without family support and won the Formula 1 title three times proving his worth.

“And then he was the only driver in the history of the GPs to stop after a terrible accident, able to come back winning another championship title.

“My father was a successful entrepreneur, as he proved by returning to Formula 1 with a different role and winning several titles with Mercedes.

“His shares will return to Stuttgart, to Mercedes itself, during 2020. They will not pass to other families. It was already provided for in a written contract a couple of years ago,” concluded Mathias Lauda.”
