At Mercedes F1, there is not too much stiff competition between Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas – Indeed Hamilton is eying up resigning with Mercedes beyond 2020 and it’s probable that a fully submissive Bottas is part of that equation.
According to some sources in Italy, Lewis Hamilton is now at a point of advanced talks with Mercedes on a contract extension with Mercedes Formula 1 team. The reports say that Hamilton will extend his stay until the end of 2022, receiving around 45 million Euro a year. READ MORE ON THIS HERE.
If this is the case, then surely the signing of Leclerc for the long term has likely put Hamilton off from going to Ferrari, if there was actually any real motivation to do so from the British driver.
Far easier is the consistent Mercedes performance and the submissive team mate in Valtteri Bottas.
Of course for Bottas, the Finn assures us that everything is going very well with his team-mate. Nothing to see here.
In 2019, Lewis Hamilton once again dominated Formula 1, winning his 6th world title. The Mercedes driver left only a few crumbs to the other drivers and Valtteri Bottas took advantage of this. The Finn started from pole position five times and won four times during the last season. Very Barrichello.
Valtteri Bottas recently talked about his relationship with Lewis Hamilton, and between the two Mercedes drivers, there isn’t really any tension. Therefore the team internal 1 / 2 dynamic is settled.
“If there was [tension], it’s just a little bit. We have been able to work together and we are closer than ever. We race hard against each other, but we’ve never had any big problems.” says Bottas
“It’s healthy not to race against your best friend, and the team is careful and makes sure there is chemistry between the drivers.”
In another interview, Bottas reveals his intention to remain at Mercedes beyond next year.
“For me, it would be a no-brainer to continue with this team because I really enjoy it. We’re performing well all together and I’m learning a lot with them and becoming a better driver all the time. So that’s my thinking at the moment.”
Heavenly words for team boss Toto Wolff who would wish Hamilton to remain for more seasons with the Mercedes team.
Stroll & Wolff takeover: Mercedes becomes Aston Martin?
Some time ago, TJ13 reported some seismic but perhaps not wholly unsurprising Formula 1 rumours – Mercedes F1 were looking to sell their team for 2021. At the time, the most likely interested party was the Russian chemical company Mogul Nikita Mazepin together with American Billionaire Roger Penske.
