Sainz reveals his “fun” relationship with Verstappen

“Everyone thinks we hated each other, but that certainly is not true,” Sainz told Formule1. “Fans always asked about our relationship, even my own friends asked about it.

“We had a lot of fun next to the job and we went much better together than people think. We were incredibly competitive on the track because we knew we were competing for our careers.”

“For me, there is no doubt that he is one of the most talented drivers,” Sainz claimed. “He lifted me to a higher level (at Toro Rosso) and he made me a better driver.”

Former greats Williams aim to be Formula One’s phoenix from the flames

“The first 20 years of Williams have been a lot better than the second,” Lowe told CNN Sport

“That history is not so significant as it’s a long time ago and the sport has changed,” he said. “Of course, I have an emotional attachment to back then as that’s where it really began for me.

“That’s a double-edged sword in that it can be a burden of preset ideas but we’re more determined than ever before to bring us back to where we want to be. This is the biggest challenge of my career,” admits Lowe.

“I’ve been fortunate to work at teams that are competing around the front, the battle to stay there or go from third to first,” he added.

“This is my first experience like that. It takes a different way of thinking, and I knew it would be difficult when I took the role one-and-a-half years ago.

“But even if you’re fighting for eighth, ninth and 10th, it’s still the same hard work, and there’s no lack of complexity in our car compared to the others.”

“At McLaren, you’d had out five or 10-year medals for long service,” he said. “At Williams, if you get to 10 years, you’re only just getting started.”

“This is not an overnight process but the aim is to move to the front of the grid,” said Lowe. “The good thing is that at the very bottom there’s no argument about the need to change, there’s no complacency.”

“Things are better than a year ago. We’ll get there.”

Big boss of Pirelli speaks out on Ferrari & Vettel

7 responses to “New onboard footage showing Esteban V Max, still blame Ocon?

  1. Why Verstappen chose to fight Ocon makes no sense
A more mature driver would let him past and take the win instead…

  2. O’Connor’s was obviously faster and did a great overtake then Vestappen tries to pass and drives into him 100% Vestappens fault. Needs to mature and drive with more care.

  3. Serously? If this was a fight for position maybe verstappen was te blame. But it wasn’t Ocon had no buissinuis making it a scrap. If had blow past him on the straight no problem but to go make it a fight is totally wrong when you are a lap down.
So the fact that Max closed the door doesn’t matter does it. Ocon was not entitled to make the move where en how he did.

    • Ocon WAS entitled to unlap himself. If you are not entitled to do that then all the lapped cars may as well stop racing. Verstappen, as the majority of commentators have said on all fora (apart from Jonathan Palmer on the BBC website) should have played the long game and waited for the right moment of opportunity. He who laughs last, laughs longest – just ask Lewis Hamilton after that race!!!!

  4. It is without a doubt that Ocon was much faster on the new set of tires than Max but in all fairness Ocon has no business trying to make up a lap in that corner. It’s a different story when you’re fighting for position but Ocon was not. He should have waited and sailed passed Verstappen using DRS. This crash was completely unnecessary.
