Dani Ric for me, though Bottas put together a perfect weekend as well tbh.
Daniel R. A driver who can take a less-than-perfect car and put it on the podium (while avoiding breaking the thing and dodging carnage or not causing carnage) is pretty much a very good driver. None of it is luck… especially with a string of podiums.
https://polldaddy.com/js/rating/rating.jsYer Eric, spot-on… Daniel is showing all of his skill right now; balanced with a healthy dose of experience and patience when it matters!
Bottas for me. Perfect all weekend.
How did Bottas get away with that jump-start?
And how could it have been a 0.2sec reaction time; when the footage clearly shows his wheels move as the start-lights are dimming. Obviously there is a marked delay (of approx. 0.2sec – clearly) between the signal being emmitted by the car’s transponder & being recognised by the grid sensor.
Or…
Me thinks someone wanted Bottas in this 2017 championship fight… hmmm!
I think I gave that Kvyat kid “Pile Driver of the Weekend” when he collected Seb on the first lap in Russia last year. The cap still fits.
Best driver of the weekend was between Bottas and Ricciardo. The silver guy did a great job across the three days, but it was largely “as expected”, for mine. Deep purple guy gets the nod for a more remarkable effort in a car that was only any good in one sector out of the three.
Encouragement award and elephant stamp for Lewis for being so miserable after the race. Cheer up, buttercup. The standards he seems to set for himself are so high they are bad for his mental health. Did he mention “early retirement” in the coverage somewhere over the weekend or was that a commentator?
Lewis said he felt bad because he was the one who performed the best of the whole field and nobody saw it.
I’ll give it to the Austrian TV Helecopter driver. He got impressivcely close to the tops of those pine trees!
Right?
There were a few times I realized he was well below the tops.
A few shots from the fixed cameras looked like he was in a James Bond film.
I was waiting for the rockets.
That sure would have spiced things up. 😲
Hahaha yeah that was impressive stuff!
Romain Grosjean. Just for making me laugh everytime he says he thinks he’s Ferrari material.
Lance “Lou” Stroll. Started 18th – finished 10th and held off a “charging” Jolyon Palmer.
So holding off the worst f1 driver of a decade is a good thing?
Will Stevens or Max Chilton were the worst drivers of this decade.
Max finished 4th at the Indy 500 and led more laps than Alonso so he may not be that bad given a decent car.
That was one race.
Look at his performance last year. 19 of 20 drivers to compete in all 16 races.
2 laps led.
Average finish of 17 when only 20 cars started each race.

I think Palmer fits right in between them
I made you say “Lou”. Where’s the credit? 😉
