Mercedes AMG F1 PR machine swings into action

hamilton head in hands

Mercedes AMG F1 have issued a statement today denying that Lewis Hamilton damaged his personal ‘ready room’ at the European GP. Further, the team denies Lewis lied about being friends with Nico Rosberg.

“Following his appearance on a television discussion show on Servus TV recorded prior to last weekend’s Austrian GP, Niki Lauda would like to set the record straight and state the following:

“Lewis Hamilton did not in any way damage a hotel room or his private driver room at the circuit during the race weekend in Baku; and

“Lewis Hamilton did not lie about his relationship with team-mate Nico Rosberg.

“Niki regrets any misunderstanding caused by comments that have been blown wildly out of proportion compared with the casual context in which they were made.”

This is as amusingly inelegant as the Lauda interview on Red Bull’s Servus TV station broadcast on Sunday evening. Clearly Niki Lauda did believe Lewis had damaged property and ‘would have to pay for it’.

Further, Mercedes may well be developing mind reading equipment to further a futuristic driverless car programme, yet how this device knows whether Lewis did lie about being friends with Nico or not is at this time unclear.

The kind of PR Mercedes are generating at present would send Dietrich Mateschitz and Spice Boy Horner into realms of ecstasy never previously known. For Red Bull all publicity is a marketing ‘ker-ching’ as the Red Bull name is punched into an internet interface keyboard time and again.

Yet for the establishment that is Daimler Benz, a company steeped rich in Germanic heritage, the Lewis-Nico on track wars and the Hamilton bad boy PR is not exactly what the executives in Stuttgart believe to be in the best interests of the company.

Mercedes have had their PR struggles with Lewis Hamilton already over the last year when Lewis was widely photographed at an Alexander McQueen show in London. He also tweeted an image from a John Elliott show during New York Fashion Week and wrote an article for the BBC promoting Stella McCartney, Valentino and Chanel. All this while making no mention of the team sponsor Hugo Boss.

With the British GP almost upon us, it will be interesting to see the fall out from this latest Mercedes PR nightmare – and whether we will see ‘happy Lewis’ or ‘moody Lewis’, sullen and grumpy due to the revelations made by Lauda this week.

In spite of the Lauda revelations, Hamilton’s mood may be set to worsen anyway as the Thursday deadline for a decision from Mercedes boss Toto Wolff looms on team orders during the up coming race.

  1. Even when you get another kick in your nuts, you continue to write your negative comments about Lewis Hamilton. It’s going to come to a point whereby you’ve got no nuts left and just admit defeat.

BTW; This is what was said about their relationship

“It’s actually really good with Nico at the moment,” Hamilton told The Daily Mail. “Really, really good. Surprisingly. I would definitely not have expected it to be where it is. I guess it is probably with age. He’s a family man. He’s got a kid. He has probably grown in that process and I have grown and come of age. The respect that we have always talked about is bigger than it has ever been.

“We say straight up, ‘Hey man, I wasn’t cool with that’. And he does that to me as often as I do to him. The other day, I was swimming in my pool – the building we live in in Monaco, there is a shared communal pool – and I guess he saw me from his apartment and came down and sat on the diving board and when I finished a few laps, we sat and talked for 20 minutes or half an hour. In a relaxed state.”

The only person who know’s what truly happen that day, is Lewis Hamilton and he has not said a word. What an idiot!

    Await your pitbulls….. good doggy….

    • What happened to the antifortis rule Judge? If not for his references to your genitalia at least please ban him for respect for the rest of us. He has been disrespectful to everybody in this site who doesn’t idolize Hamilton as he does. I guess I’m not the only one reading the site less only because I’m tired of running into his comments everywhere, and I mean everywhere. The video of what Lauda said is there, if the kid can’t deal with the reality just leave him work on his issues by his own, we don’t need to read him.

      • Not only ban him, lock him in the dungeon, that should silence him….

        Anymore suggestions?

        • For the crime of
          High Treason
          Blasphemy
          Sedition
          Rebellion
I call on the Judge to show no mercy for the defendant Fortis96
I point to the following punishments for the above crimes and urge for the court to show no mercy for even the slightest sign of Sedition should be halted before it spreads

          The Scavenger’s Daughter
          The Collar
          The Iron Maiden

A Defendant’s chances in receiving any acquittal in court should be extremely slim. Trials need to be designed in the favour of the prosecutors and defendants accused any of the above crimes should by law not even be allowed legal counsel!

PUNISHMENT DURING THE ELIZABETHAN ERA – THE COURTIERS
Life in Elizabethan England was chronicled by a man called William Harrison – this included details of Elizabethan crime and punishment. The most dreadful punishment of being Hung, Drawn and Quartered was described by William Harrison as follows:

“The greatest and most grievous punishment used in England for such as offend against the State is drawing from the prison to the place of execution upon an hurdle or sled, where they are hanged till they be half dead, and then taken down, and quartered alive; after that, their members and bowels are cut from their bodies, and thrown into a fire, provided near hand and within their own sight, even for the same purpose.”

Other punishment could include death by burning and beheading. Being burnt at the stake was a punishment which was used during the reign of ‘Bloody Mary’ – Queen Elizabeth’s elder sister. Yet another terrible death. Executioners sometimes showed mercy to their victims by placing gunpowder at the base of the stake which helped the victims to a swifter, and less painful, death.
          BEHEADING
The punishment of Death by the axe was a terrifying prospect. The executioners often took several blows before the head was finally severed. The punishment of death by Execution were held in public and witnessed by many people . Following the execution the severed head was held up by the hair by the executioner, not as many people think to show the crowd the head, but in fact to show the head the crowd and to it’s own body! Consciousness remains for at least eight seconds after beheading, until lack of oxygen causes unconsciousness, and eventually death. The punishment even continued after ‘death’. Traitors Heads were placed on stakes and displayed to the everyone in public places such as London Bridge. The most feared place in England was the Tower of London

          I await your honourable Judgments

          • Your name befits you. Brilliant!…. Sadly I can only up vote you once…

            😂😂😂😂😂

      • LOL. “Ban him daddy, he’s being mean! He likes the driver that I don’t like!”

        • Agree. It’s ridiculous. Requesting a ban, that is. Childish.

It’s on the same level as: “Hmph, I’m leaving! I don’t like what I read!” Melodramatic much?

          No one cares. Just go.

As for our resident ellipsis-abuser, well, people don’t have to read comments. As you’re scrolling down, and you see a guy who changed his last name to a letter, simply continue to scroll. That’s what I do. I’m sure that happens with respect to my comments when some see a strange eye. Big deal.

May the whinging cease and the fighting live forever more.

That’s why I found it odd when Sal was actually banned. Sure, he’s a d¡ck, but are we banning d¡cks now? @Matt used to b¡tch-slap him well. So did some others. Was fun, no? Plus he actually provided some interesting comments, occasionally.

          Anyway, whatever.

Oh, as for Odd, +1 on that comment, Oddball! Funny!

Live and let live – live and let cry. Haha. No? Oh, ok.

          Peace,

          @WTF_F1

          • “Was fun, no?”

No, there’s no fun in that. And it’s bad for business, as in driving thoughtful people away, and drags down discussions to the lowest common insult. Abusing the person you’re talking to is not something you’d lightly do in real life (unless you’re a certifiable d!ck, or in the interests of equality a d!ckess), and there is no place for that in internet fora either.

          • Well, then I suppose @JOlivers’s ban request stands, as you see it.

I still think a ban request is childish. I use my scroll function. It’s more effective than asking the Judge to alter the environment in my favour.

          • Problem is, not all use the scroll function. When others/many get dragged into silly arguments (or naturally feel inclined to respond when abused), a normal discussion cannot be had. Over the long run normal discussions no longer happen. This is bad for all.

As for banning, forums often moderate much more heavily than TJ13 does just to ensure that discussions are civilized and those with questionable behavior are kept in check. I’m not saying this should be the new normal, and careful judgement should be exercised; but in certain cases TJ13 shouldn’t hesitate pushing over the board d!cks and d!ckesses.

    • The Lewis bait articles dont even get more than a few comments anymore. Whats needed here is more stuff from thejudges ‘sources’ – stuff like Red Bulls bespoke ERS

    • You call that negative? Wow you are thin skinned.
Obviously you have no problems of labeling Horner Spice Boy.

  2. I vote for…pi#+ed off Lewis 😇..watch out for a low flying marker boards in the pits

  3. dear judge
i know at the start of the season you were going to close this site down, the reasons are unknown to me but should you not be neutral in your reporting i think you would keep a lot more clicks on your site.its a good site but why have you got it in for so many people? just report the facts

    • I think our judge Does report the facts.
Dutch expression: “high trees catch a lot of wind.”

Also seen on this site are articles about:
      – ‘cerebral Nico’
      – Vettel’s ‘hissy fit’
      – Alonso the ‘samurai’
      Etc

      I like that.

No PC around here, lots of banter. Not one other site offers that. And this sit also offers freedom of speech: you can say anything you want (except trolling) and if you think other aspects of the sport should be written about, you can enter your own articles.

(I visit other sites and there’s another I like but if your comment contains ‘bias’ it goes into moderation…)

      • thank you for reply Verstappen, you have nailed it with your quotes :-
        ‘cerebral Nico’
        – Vettel’s ‘hissy fit’
        – Alonso the ‘samurai’
is this just as i have stated keep to the facts if you are reporting something! not give us your bias opinion.we all have a different views which we can then state which would make for a better article

        • It’s the bias which makes it fun here. Don’t want that? Visit motorsport.com or any other site…

        • No thanks!
Cerebral – comes from other sources.
Samurai – comes from Alonso himself.

What TJ called ‘hissy fit’ got elsewhere reported as ‘toys out of the pram’

In this day an age there’s enough evidence to mistrust media. All of them. So use your mind and visit sites that give you energy.

  4. As I commented this sunday:
Their press later today / this week should be fun.
    Niki surpassed my imagination.

  5. Brilliant, thoughtful and insightful article. As always from the Judge. Thankyou
