#TJ13 #F1 Courtroom Podcast: “Beat With A Dead Fish”

Podcast

It’s Vortex Motio back in the shed this week, Trumpet’s Cali twin, taking a break from the surf long enough to crunch some numbers and discover he, too, is a member of the slow cooker club.

Anil “Nutella” Parmar joins him with the good news of a contract extension for his beard. Tensions abound, however, as reportedly his beard is not happy at having to work with a new, younger haircut.

Crisp Packet Crinkler in Chief AJ makes it a second straight visit to the shed as he once again demonstrates his ever most remarkable tongue waggling ability.

Host in Chief Spanners Ready and Mattpt55 round out the panel as Spanner’s déshabillé has become habitual coinciding with a drop in his personal grooming habits. None of that matters, however, as Spanners displays a hitherto undiscovered vocal talent in an original song that gets its World Premiere on the show.

This week’s the panel looks forward to the race weekend and considers whether it’s possible to have a two stop race on the current Pirelli tyres and what Lewis Hamilton was *really* up to when he skipped the test in Austria (Hint: it might have been fun). TourDog brings us up to date on the PU sitch with his awesome article and even Spanners feels bad for making fun of McHonda. But not bad enough to not make fun of McHonda.

Spanners has prepared a brutal Quiz for the panel this week so play along and see if you can get the right answer. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth, not to mention protestations of semantic trickery and crisps packet rustling when the answer was revealed. And of course, find out if Anil’s beard’s new contract paid off as he attempts to right the sinking ship and keep his record above 50-50.

The TJ13 School of Bright Ideas returns to discuss how the potential new owners of Formula 1 might improve the sport by focusing on the in’s and out’s of circuit deals. Not surprisingly there is plenty of room to make things better. The panel also weigh in and Jean Todt’s latest pronouncements though you’ll have to listen in to find out what a dead fish has to do with them.

Naturally with Anil on the show, the finale of the Formula E season comes in for some review and as Chief Audience Member AJ actually attended the weekends proceedings the panel gets a behind the scenes look at some of the goings on as well as a passionate debate about the future of battery technology (words I’d never thought to put together, but there you go).

This week we again learn some Things including just how good and impression of Churchill Spanners can do as well as the real strategy behind Jean Todt’s impassive Presidency.
Thanks again to the Jury for providing an excellent stream of comments and facts. Unfortunately we were too distracted by the AJ’s geography lesson to get to them but we’ll do better next time, Jury, we promise. Honest. Join @SpannersReady, @Mattpt55, @FormulaEDiary, @ajhuntf1 and @VortexMotio on Twitter where we sometimes talk about stuff. With Words.

  1. I was surprised how everyone doesn’t seem to think the hot weather won’t pay much of a factor in the race. It won’t have track temps like Malaysia, but it still should help the Ferraris.

    • If it was a 2 or 3 stop then the Ferraris could take advantage maybe. But 1 stop means that there’s probably no advantage.

  2. If you UK guys got so excited about last weeks Formula E race, then I suggest that you check out the FIA World Rallycross from Sweden. Highlights on Quest TV, Monday 7pm.
