FIA opens application process for new teams
This year the grid only features ten teams, while for next year the F1 world looks forward to the arrival of Haas F1. The FIA has now opened the application process open to organizations that want to enter F1 for the 2016 or 2017 seasons. The application window closes on June 30th 2015. Should any applications come in they will be decided upon until September 30th. Among other criteria, the value the applicant brings to F1 as a whole, will be considered, which is French for how much they can pay Bernie, I presume.
There have been reports that the French ART team is considering stepping up to F1.
Suspects of Red Bull trophy heist arrested
According to the BBC program “Crimewatch” the Rozzers have nicked four suspects believed to be part of the intruders, who stole sixty trophies from the Red Bull Racing headquarters in Milton Keynes on December 6th 2014. An official confirmation from the authorities is still pending.
Twenty of the sixty trophies, mostly replicas, were later found in a nearby lake, while the other forty are still missing. Red Bull has offered 10.000 Pound for useful hints from the great unwashed.
Räikkönen’s WEC promise still on
Tony Vilander, a Finnish sportscar driver (mostly Ferraris), works as a TV expert for Finnish TV and is a close friend of Kimi Räikkönen. When he asked the Iceman during the Monaco weekend if the promise was still on that he would tackle Le Mans after his F1 career alongside his buddy, Räikkönen answered in the affirmative, but made it clear that he would only consider the big cars, as opposed to the smaller GT classes that Vilander can normally be found in.

Since I’m the first comment this morning I’ll hijack the news to beg/urge you to listen to this weeks podcast. If you haven’t listened for a while please give it another chance. Cracking show this week. Bags of fun. I think even Cav enjoyed it.
Daryl is back this week and Anil is on fire.

Anyway back to the news… Team TJ13 to join the F1 grid as a customer team.

‘F*ck……yeah!’
Kimi and WEC: Perhaps someone will blow the dust off a moth-balled Porsche 917L for him to punt around Le Mans. That would be worth watching…….
Is Force India circling the drain is that why the application process was opened up? Once Bernie’s is not the CRH of Formula 1 anyone, I think a waiting list of teams wanting to enter the sport will form. Nobody wants their money lining Bernie’s pockets.
I’ll go with TJ13 on this one:
“Max goes Mad”
And morphs into Kvyat.
@verstsappen
To be fair, landroni was probably blinded by the teeth. Which leads me to:
“Kvyat targets Ricciardo/Colgate contract.”
“The FIA has now opened the application process open to organizations that want to enter F1 for the 2016 or 2017 seasons.”
I would bet a dollar and a half that Forza Rossa won’t be anywhere to be found in that process. Since the botched Caterham scam, this “100% private enterprise” has been suspiciously silent on their progress towards their F1 entry… They were very busy though denouncing any links to the Romanian government…
If their WEC entry is anything to go by then F1 will simply be beyond them, I don’t understand what hold the dentist has on F1, he had the nerve to try and blackmail Toto,he wrecked caterham and shafted the staff while removing all of this yrs designs and research with no plans to ever race. He should be removed from the grid and barred from the paddock. IMHO (views my own and not tj13) a.c.e. judge 😉
Technically Forza Rossa has no entry in WEC; it’s Kolles. But I catch the drift, and agree with you that however you look at the operation—whether FR or Kolles’ Kodewa—, it’s one horrifyingly ungodly mess. I too hope the likes of Kolles and Ravetto never get anywhere close to an F1 team again.
I did try and dig deeper into the workings of all the Kolles operations but other than what’s released through pr its as clear as mud. The UK company directors list from company house was an eye opener as too the deeper accounts of the now defunct caterham operation. It reminds me of the Lotus deal with quantum, maybe they did their business credentials together. Lotus had no choice but to cater to the potention buyers but really…money held up in transfer? If all dealings had this problem the world would be screwed. Any hoo, back to the endurance racer..that too looks like the old lotus,..if you know what I mean, wink, wink …paint it a different colour and hope no one noticed
My humble submission for TheUsher’s Caption Competition:
The Teeth of Red Bulls latest two drivers led to suspicion that Adrian Newey was trying to gain some kind of Aerodynamic advantage. Sadly windtunnel tests proved the only thing Kvyats teeth were good for was eating an Orange through a letterbox.
Slightly off topic but given the last couple of days “activity” with FIFA, hopefully the World Police, sorry the Americans, will be marching Bernie off to a prison cell in the near future. Wouldn’t that be lovely
Only if any of his unscrupulous dealings goes through any of their banks.
Or if he donates to the Clinton Foundation.
That new team criteris should read:
“… the money the supplicant can pour into the F1 black hole..”
Before opening up the application process for new teams, should the FIA not be more concerned with seeing to it that the current teams that are struggling financially are fully secured first?
Surely anyone that submits an application knowing the disparity in how the funds are allocated, surely must be off their rockers!
The FIA opened up the process precisely because Little Jean is anticipating several of the existing teams to drop dead (he started talking about this around the time FI and Sauber went cap-in-hand to the Dwarf for advance payments). And this is the reason the FIA was sorta kinda almost publicly supportive of the customer cars idea, for the health of the sport, of course.
“Surely anyone that submits an application knowing the disparity in how the funds are allocated, surely must be off their rockers!”
Caterham, Manor and HRT did… And it wasn’t much different then. However if customer teams don’t materialize (hopefully), then potential entrants will have to pause and think about the fate of recent new entrants and the cash sinks they’ve proven for their owners relative to on-track performance.

Yes, but weren’t they lied that they will participate in a championship with budget cap around some reasonable number?
Well, they might need a really huuuuuuuuge money loser for some kind of tax advantage (why Mrs. Carlson kept “WKRP In Cincinnati”) going
( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077097/?ref_=nv_sr_1 ).
Seems really highly excessively unlikely to me, though I do know there are crazy people in the world.
ART+ Honda PU’s.
Vandoorne and K-Mag.
Sorted.
At least Alonso and Button in their McLaren will have two cars they could set up for a beating… 🙂

So Ferrari dumped Mattiaci because Bernie didn’t like him, amongst other things, and replaced him with the big A because he got along with Bernie.
Now Bernie is not giving Arrivabene a good welcoming and Arrivabene don’t care. And apparently neither does Nico. Are Bernie’s days in F1 truly numbered?
